I feel like my next knife should be a tweener...

Would y'all take the 15, 16, or 17 for general woods/farm use?

Sorry to hear that Cbear, hope it works out for him.

I didn't think it would offend anyone. I'll delete it.
Didn't mean to gang up on you or anything. Just my opinion.
One of the supervisors at work was recently targeted by them because he lives in a very white neighborhood with his half white/half Indian (feather not dot) wife and the neighbors didn't like it. There were a couple of evenings that things were getting hairy for him and he asked me to come crash on his couch.
Didn't even know they were still around. That's crazy.

I like the 15, but the 16 is probably better for you.

Smart aleck. :D

I'm really not the person to ask.

As for me, I'm not going anywhere near anything that even rhymes with or hints about "KKK". That's not cool or funny or cute at all, not even a little bit, not even in jest :thumbdn:.

Please allow me to clarify; I'm not a mod here and I'm not throwing any weight around. That's just my personal opinion.

I decided not to let it bother me because that'd give more power to a word, but that was just me. I can easily see how it'd be offensive to others.

I did not take offense to anything anyone said here. I'm just thinking out loud. No harm done :)

"Taking power away from a 'bad' word" never works. Not even if you're the person that slur was intended to insult. Words do have cultural power, especially when used in a hurtful manner. To put a fine point on it, the "n" word is still the "n" word, no matter who says it. "KKK" still means the KKK to most people. I do not take kindly to being called a "cracker".

Sadly, there are still people on this planet who are filled with ignorance and hate, and use those terms to express it. I want nothing to do with those misguided souls.

I adamantly despise censorship and "political correctness", but I strongly condone thoughtfulness in choosing one's words, so as not to alienate people who might misconstrue your intent. Just say what you really mean. Clarity is very important to productive communication.

Again, that's only my opinion. :)

Joking about racism/sexism/*phobism/genocide in a public context will be offensive. It can't not be unless possibly at only your own expense (poking fun at oneself is almost always inoffensive). "Political correctness" and "conscious respectfulness" (I made that up right now) are two different things.

Among a small group of close friends who all share the same context and understanding, different types of communication may be allowable. Being an adult means knowing the boundaries of your groups and behaving accordingly to respect your known and unknown fellows (or accepting the consequences).

This confused the hell out of me! I went looking for the footnote (*) and couldn't find one. Then remembered you're a geek and * means "et al."

He's a computer geek and the * is a wildcard....anything attached to phobism.

That being said, snark on folks, and enjoy the weekend....I've a Gathering to attend.

I know, I probably shouldn't have said what I did, but I absolutely meant no harm by it.

What I mean is, the power of the word from those kids to me. Those "jokes" eventually stopped.
Though you may be right and that might have more to do with the sports I was involved with and my teammates looking out for me.
