As I said, they have every right to come into BF and ask for F&F payments, BF allows them to for now. I'm not saying that it's the right thing to do, especially considering it's fraud against PayPal, but BF doesn't ban it so anybody could ask for F&F and not be punished for it.

I see what you mean. But to be precise, that's not "every right." That's just "this place allows it." But you are correct, on this forum the onus is on the buyer (for some reason) to be the honest party.
 
While I agree with the main thrust of your post (shipping expensive knives in envelopes is not a good idea) I can see a couple issues with what you have said. And since you mention how new you are I thought I might share my perspective on these things.

Nope. Buyer did not conduct this transaction as a stand up guy, if he had he would have his money back by now. The buyer sent a payment with Friends and Family. The buyer screwed himself. That is not very stand up. At the end of the day the the seller looks to be a scammer but there can't be scammers if there is no one to scam. Sellers need to do the very most basic thing to protect themselves by paying via a method that offers some sort of recourse. Never use gift unless you are sending a gift. Simple and stand up.

Again, you left out not protecting yourself. You can't control how the seller ships a knife or if a higher power decides to zap a particular mail truck. What you can do is pay with paypal goods so that in the event a USPS hub is eaten by locusts or an idiot seller ships $600s worth of knives flopping around in an envelope you are completely covered by paypal's buyer protection policy in the event of inevitable loss.

Just a bit of advice....

Not really. Just as there is no rule against asking for F&F there is no rule against paying with F&F. It is stupid to do either, but no one has to do the honest thing and not use F&F here and nor is it BFCs responsibility to enforce paypal's policy.
 
Did I just read that after this incident the OP is still thinking about buying another knife from the same seller, who again asks for F&F?

I don't think so. The seller seems to still be selling the the same way though. It was pointed out in the very confusing (where advice was given to break BFC rules) post below that the seller still seems to be asking F&F like he did with the OP buyer:

Seller has another knife for sale and is asking F&F payment again.

I want to be clear. On Tuesday I received 14 knives. All paid G&S, except this one transaction that Nomadick which was in BF. Two other knives were purchased on BF under G&S. In fact, I have a claim with PP now on a Lionspy that was a complete mess, not as described.
I threw a price out to Nomadick, he responded with his counter + F&F. I unfortunately agreed as I had BF as the mecca of honest, knowledagable, and understanding place to share common interest. Wether here or FB if I was Nomadick, I would have taken care of it..period.
Someone asked if my friend sent me three knives and one didn't show up, would I ask my friend to replace it? No, my friends would replace it without asking. If they didn't, you're damn right I would.
This has been an eye opening experience for me, a come to Jesus as one mentioned. Not the lesson of F&F vs. G&S, I knew this lesson long before BF.
The eye opener is what and who makes up BF. You that stand on a platform chastising me, regarding I'm not a stand up guy?. I'm a thief, liar, and whatever classy term you've used to shame me. As you're writing this Nomadick is selling fucking knives under F&F, throwing them in a paper envelope and shipping to suckers like me. This is community? This is support? I reached out to a MOD to let them know what happened so it wouldn't happen to others, not to be your bitch punching bag to say the things you can't say to your boss, wife, or whoever has you frustrated...
I have to eat the cost of those knives. You calling me names and judging my character, have you said anything to Nomadick? No.

Cheating PayPal out of their cost of allowing all of us an easy way to pay for knives is a community problem, thus many folks being quite ticked off whenever someone uses F&F for payments. The minimal comments directed at you in this thread are the standard fare when someone admits they used F&F and got screwed, it's a lesson to be learned and I'm sure you have stored it away for the future.

If you look at this thread, though, the other side has been maligned much worse than you, considering he failed to deliver a knife he said he would, and he asked for F&F in the first place, and he failed to use proper packaging for knives in transit. He's received much worse than you, so please don't try and play the victim card and act like he's getting away with murder while you're getting crucified for a simple mistake; that's just simply not true.

By no means is there a card I play with victim on it. If name calling, shaming, and putting people down is this communities answer to community..That's a shame.
How is one to know, or see Nomadick is "receiving it way worse"? Is this being done in private rather than public? You have a glimpse of this in which I do not, though I was involved.
 
Many rules with infractions here, why not write another in. It may keep people on board rather than shame them away.

Reading this thread and not being either party in this mess makes it easy to see who's been treated worse, and nomadik clearly got the worse of this thread. But, you seem to be unaware that you screwed up, so you are seeing any and all mentions of your faults as being uncalled for and unnecessary. You are at fault just the same as nomadik for this mess, by agreeing to his terms you chose to break PayPal's rules.

Sir. If you read the thread early, I admit my fault. Your speculation on Nomadicks treatment is fine with me. The names and shaming are fine with me.. If it makes people feel better, gives them a platform of expression, wonderful. I'm all for it.
