NON PAYMENT: Warning Seller Beware

Out of curiosity, what is the purpose of a deposit?

I always assumed that a deposit is put down to secure a deal, or to confirm that the deal will go through.

In this case someone put a deposit down for a sword and then never complete the deal. In the mean time, he still was looking to buy other items. Any hardships he had didn't prevent him from trying to acquire other knives.

I'd say he LOST his deposit if he doesn't complete the transaction.

And He Has Had Over 5 Grand In Knives Of Mine Since April... No Word On Getting Them Back To Me.......
VTW it is time for you to contact the LAW i wouldnt let someone burn me for that much or even anything close to that do not wait take action my 2 cents. I see you have started another thread I am pissed this is a BIG problem and as far as i am concerned GRAVELFACE is in a alot of trouble here.

After reading these other posts, further research, and seeing VTW’s thread about Gravelface, I am kind of feeling like a sucker.

Oh well...live and learn.

There is no way any of you should let this guy off the hook and eat the costs.
If he was having problems then communication is paramount... He owes you some explanation and refunds and returned knives. Im sure he is a forum member in good standing but thats about to change for the guy if he doesnt get it together and make this right. It's not even my money and i got hot reading this... i dont know how id handle it if it were my money
Sometimes life kicks ya in the jewels but you dont conduct business like this.
Its simple if ya cant do the work then refund... send it all back
5 grand in knives, i would visit in person to politely retrieve my investment
good luck to all, hope he steps up and makes this right, and does it soon

This thread has me quite disturbed. I have always thought Gravelface was one of the good ones- he has been one of my favorite forum members since I got here. I have one of his sheaths that I carry every day. I'm really hoping he mans up and gets this issue resolved quickly, I hate to see his name dragged through the mud like this. But it sounds like he deserves it.

He is a wounded combat veteran, and deserves extra consideration, but that only goes so far. C'mon buddy, you can still make this right.

if anyone has his contact info and such i would appreciate a phone call giving me the info so i can call him and track this stuff down, i sent him my fave blades..... my absolute faves...

I don't see any of us defending the behavior or lack of communication. I do believe we are trying to rationalize why he is not handling these problems since he has had many difficulties in the recent past. I certainly won't say you're wrong in anything but challenging anyone with trying to reason this out. I personally don't care if you have a problem with me and trying to give a friend the benefit of a doubt. He has been very honest with me in the past and we have had some great deals between us, but I am through trying to defend him since he has been logged on here and seems to have had a chance to chime in on his own behalf. I wish you and VTW the best.

The easiest solution is what RTDT has already stated... Tell Jason that his time is up, refund his money already paid, and relist the knife. Nothing lost except time. Reverse the deal and get out.

I'm sorry that you've had a bad experience with him. I know him personally and have completed knife deals successfully with him in the past. I just think that with all that has happened to him & his family over the last bunch of months have left him down, but hopefully far from out.

Everyone dies, toughguy... it's how you conduct your affairs while your breathing that makes all the difference.

Sounds like another deadbeat knifejunkie.

Everybody screws up occasionally. It's what you do, how you fix it after something like this that defines a person as well. Lighten up, "toughguy".

This member even has wanted to buy other knives on his personel page

By no means do I excuse opting out of a deal without clear communication. If you say "I'll take it," then you take it, as far as I'm concerned.

But just a quick point about the above quoted statement. That WTB info on his profile really means little. How often do you change your personal page? I honestly don't know what mine says, and I'll have to check it to find out. The WTB notes in Gravelface's profile could be months, even years, old. If he had posted in WTB about those knives recently, that might be a different story. The last time he posted a WTB about any of them was back in April (the MOASH). Admittedly, Jason did since post (back in June) one other WTB about "Carillo Blades," but it got only 15 looks and no responses. Might have been just a shot in the dark to gauge interest/owners here at BFC. Who knows? I have posted WTB threads in the past partly to get a sense of who owned certain knives and what the current asking price happened to be.

Edit: Okay, my profile lists my favorite knives as the ABA LE, MOASH, and FBM SE. I guess, after this year's Blade 2008 releases, I should have immediately edited that note to show that the FBM SE in question is actually now called the FBM SE 2007. See what I mean by old profile notes?

Occasionally? Sounds like a repeat offender to me. Let's see how it turns out...
