Noooo way. No freaking frickah frakin effin way man. Broken backspacer??????

Let me get this straight...you dropped it on LINOLEUM from a short height? Linoleum, as in that roll out flooring? That stuff is pretty soft and not like ceramic tile, at all. I have installed enough if it to know. There should have been no way that spacer broke from that. If anything, the linoleum should have softened the blow. I have over a dozen BM knives and have dropped many of them onto truly hard surfaces (concrete, tiles, etc), some with a bit of velocity, and I have never damaged any of them. I would send it back to the good folks at BM. They will make it right.

So in other words you are not willing to answer my question.

If you want to be yet another in a long line of trolls go ahead, because your evasive non answer is as worthless as the rest of your comments.

The comments I gave were in response to your question. If you want to be petty then go ahead.

Sorry, that doesn't work when you do it, because I responded to everything you threw at me and you have yet to respond to anything I have said, instead preferring to just call me a troll.

Yet another wall of text of nothing but speculation and conjecture. Why am I not surprised....

That's your idea of a response to a question?

That is a great point. I did not mean for my post to seem anti Benchmade, just to point out that knives get dropped.

If I had one of of these runs, I would ask for a new back spacer, or get an aftermarket!

Maybe it didn't come out right, but my response was an effort to reinforce what you said about having a knife you could drop all day with no problems. Maybe I should have started out with "I agree".

wow stumbled onto this thread after breaking the back space on my 810 today. we were done working for the day and I decided to test the glass breaker by knocking the glass out of an old street light. one light hit the glass didn't break but the back space did. Luckily a co worker who has no interest in knives had a $7 knife from a gas station, and was able to finish the job w no problem. I love my knife and plan to fix it and keep using it but I can not believe how many people in this thread are trying to act like this is acceptable performance, it defiantly sounds like it has happened to more than a few people and after today I would be willing to bet that the ones who have never had a problem have probably never used there knife much. Trust me I was amazed at how easily it broke, when I say with only a light hit I mean it was quite light. oh well I never cared for the glass breaker and will probably look for custom stand offs.

I can say from my personal experience, I was wrapping duct work and needed to chip some concrete to get the clearance I needed ... I decided to try out my "glass breaker" on the concrete. After a bit of whacking the job was done and aside from a few scuffs on the g10 and clip he knife was no worse for wear.

I've dropped a Wal-Mart Kershaw Leek on concrete numerous times also without any problems outside of a few scuffs.

Clearly it's a problem. That said, I've broken glass and dropped the knife. I edc it. The backspacer is fine.

I hope you guys less fortunate get it worked out. I think if mine broke I'd put standoffs in there and forget about the breaker.
