Northwoods 15?

When i first opened up my Northwoods 15 my first impression was that the knife is smaller than expected, meaning smaller than my 2 GEC #15's. But of course it is exactly the same size. Either the EO cut-out or the lack of caps makes it look a bit smaller. However, now that i have had it for a few days, i no longer get the impression of it being smaller.
Also from comparison with the picture in post # 231 the blade on mine looks slightly narrower, but i doubt that it is. Measured at the plunge line, the distance from spine to edge is 10mm. My bet is that all of these blades are 10mm and it's either my eyes or the picture angle that makes the pictured one look deeper.
Nice little knife with a tough and pointed blade which gives the ability to puncture, something a Sheepsfoot blade cannot do. The saber grind might make it a bit less of a slicer.

I am real curious to see how the black looks. I wish they'd hurry up and post a photo of a finished knife.

There is no doubt that the ivory one is worth getting. It is really a fine piece of ivory that the handle slabs are being cut from. Every bit as fine as the ivory on my customs by Jerry Halfrich or Mike Zscherny, so i see this Northwoods #15 as a special opportunity. And it is possible that ivory could be banned and soon. Like Ms. Joplin said "get it while you can".

Here is my ivory Northwoods #15:

I have included my #66 Serpentine Pen knife with interior mammoth in the next 2 pics because it is just The Perfect Pen knife.

Ivory is always better in person than in pictures.

The Blue Camel bone Broadway Jacks that y'all have been showing are stunning. I knew I was going to pull the trigger on an Ivory, but wasn't sure about the Blood Red Sawcut... torn between it and the Blue Camel, which to me looks better on the Broadway Jack than on any of the previous Northwoods. It is just a great fit in my eyes. I feel the same way about the Blood Red Sawcut.

As kj has said, the ivory on these is very, very nice.

I'd visit this thread, and with resistance firmly in place I still found enjoyment in everyone acquiring these beauties. I thought if its meant to be that a future trade or purchase on the sub form would happen. I have the Fremont in oiled bone and really like that knife yet was fascinated by the ivory versions.

David, Al, Joe, just beautiful Ivory gems, then Perry with his immune system down, I thought needed someone to suffer along with him;):)

I'm sure the suffering will only be the time involved waiting for its arrival:thumbup:

Paul, you will not regret this purchase. Unless it gets lost, it will still be in your family 100 years from now. Amortize over that period of time and the guilt goes away.

Well thanks ALOT Perry!!! This I do believe will be my first ever Ivory knife:D:cool: order placed ten minutes ago because of your subtle sales skills:p

Congrats Paul! I have been fighting the temptation really hard, especially with KJ posting that beauty! Though, it helps having an empty wallet.

KJ that is amazing!

Yep, sure does. $.20/month for the next hundred years. My grand babies will be thanking me :D

Perry, all I can say to you is congrats. Mine just arrived Friday and as Joe has so eloquently stated, these are worth every penny. The ivory is gorgeous and seems perfectly suited to the knife. This one just may be my ultimate pocket worry stone!

Congrats to you as well, Paul. You won't regret it at all. Actually it was very easy for me to find a couple knives that will no longer be seeing pocket time that will be hitting the block very soon. I don't look at it as spending a lot of cash on a knife but rather upgrading at very little cost :D.

All very true! Thank you Paul but I blame Derrick and KSF, that's what reeled me in to so many of them. That and after getting my first one, it became apparent to me that this was about as close to perfect in a pocket knife, for me anyway! Very true Paul, we will suffer the wait on the PO together. At least you know your postman!

Al, thanks for the nice comments on my blue one! That saw cut is sweet in every way! The Ivory is pretty crazy, how it sucked us all in! I gotta stop visiting this thread! Lol
Thanks for those wonderful pics Joseph! Really captured the look of that Ivory!
Jamie, that's what I plan to do as well, worry stone it! Maybe carry it on special occasions and maybe even in my daughter's wedding coming up in the fall!
