Northwoods Bear Lake

Me too. I didn't notice any green or blue ones this time, but they may have been grabbed before I checked.

I looked for the green/blue's early on and they were all gone already. Someone is hording all the green/blue Northwoods! Personally I like the orange with black accent lines better. The green/blue's are very unique - fun for collectors and fans of those colors. Please post some pictures when your knives arrive. Congratulations again on the giraffe. I was eyeing that one. If I had extra funds and didn't blow my knife budget on 14/15's I would of grabbed it.

I was able to grab this stag. It'll be my first Northwoods. I really enjoyed checking out all the different covers in mammoth ivory and giraffe bone. Very unique knives.

I think stag suit the northwoods rustic line best. I got my third choice . Have no idea what it looks like though.Didnt get a good look at 1 or 2 either .

I ended up with my third choice. That stag went fast.

My first Northwoods should be winging its way to me next week. I went for the micarta with red being my favourite colour. The exchange rate to CAD$ plus the knife does not ship free to Canada precluded me spending more on mammoth or stag.

It was an anxious few minutes as the sale seemed to start late (17:07) and then the micarta did not initially appear and I thought they may have sold out while I was waiting to connect. All calm now until the next time.

Come on USPS and stay away customs agents and fees!

Nice looking knife! And it's good to see stag covers from GEC with a shield.

Thanks! I knew the stag was going to go quick. I think it took around 10 minutes. It was a tough decision but I'm happy with what I got.

That's a great looking mammoth ivory, excellent choice.

I'll post as soon as they arrive, maybe with some snowy background if it doesn't melt off first.
I love PP credit!

Also, nice stag and mammoth pics!

I managed to get hold of a stag one and had planned to buy a micarta one too as an Edc. But by the time I had finally managed to go through the process of buying the stag one all the micarta one had gone.
So if anyone has a spare micarta one they want to sell, I am interested !!

I totally missed out on the stag and micarta ones. :( Oh well. Just means I have more money to find the right Fiddleback... :)

Nice looking knives but the prices took me aback for what they are IMHO. Good for Derrick as I'm sure they will soon sell out.

Got my email heads up, and picked up this nice mammoth with a little blue/green. There were a couple of arguably nicer ones, but they went right quick. There are still a few nice giraffe bone left even now.

Some of those Camel bone covers almost look like the Mammoth! Sad to see the flippers already flipping these and they have'nt even shipped

Oh man, I'm pretty sure that's the one I picked up as well. This was my first KSF fray. Does this happen where multiple people pay for the same knife?

ix-Nay on pricing discussions or selling practices.
Just talk about the knives.

I thought Mammoth couldn't be sold anymore due to the ban, am I missing something?

This sleeve board pattern for the Bear Lake appears to be a new pattern for GEC. I wonder if they will use it for other knives?

Hi 9Nine, I thought mammoth was fine. It is elephant ivory that is banned. I thought mammoth ivory is reclaimed from skeletal remains of the long dead creatures. I wonder how long before giraffe is banned as their population is dropping faster than the elephant presently.

9Nine, mammoth isn't banned because it is from an extinct animal, so no risk in harvesting the tusks. Ivory is a much different story. Ancient mammoth tusks, from which we get the knife scales, are surprisingly not uncommon. In Siberia and Alaska, they are actively harvested. The color and character in mammoth ivory depends on the mineral content of the soil in which they lay, and how close to the outside or "bark" the cut is made. Interestingly, here on the coast of northern California, there is a large outcropping of rock that the mammoths used as a scratching post. Ten feet up, the rock is polished smooth and shiny from the massive animals scratching their itchy pelts on it, until of course they became extinct. But at least in Sonoma County, they became extinct with a smile!
