Northwoods Broadway Jack Review

Also this will be the first time for me to own one of the Northwoods pocket slips. In the past I've only owned the moccasin type. These look very well made!

Fine item there Jake! I'm far from surprised that it's on your Never For Sale in This Lifetime List! You sure.....:D:D

I'm very interested to see how undyed Camel bone ages, should be excellent.

I love Derricks pocket slip. It is the only one I use anymore. At first it feels kind of big and bulky but what I learned is that's also what I love about it because it keeps it upright in my pocket instead of constantly falling over sideways. Here is a picture of my slip Derrick gifted me when my wife and I visited his store on our honeymoon almost a year ago. I've carried it almost everyday since and this picture shows how well they age with use.

Splain to me "slipjoint paradigm." I googled it and didn't get an explanation.
Is the logo designated for special production? Only on the Broadway Jack?
I like it...classy!

The bone looks awesome Jake. That logo is classy. Do you know who designed it?

Mine is not elephant ivory but the undyed camel bone. It just landed here a couple of hours ago but work has been so busy I haven't had a chance to post it up. Everything Mike said applies to mine as well. Not a single flaw or issue with mine. I've been to busy to get excited about it but man was I blown away when I opened it up. This knife as already made it onto my never sell list. ;)

Quick picture taken in my office.

I succumbed to the atmosphere of excitement present in these posts. 3.5" elephant coming my way. The ivory on the Northwoods has consistently been of the highest quality, (that i know of) so it is an opportunity as there is some rather plain white ivory on knives elsewhere and soon there might be none of any quality. Hence, easy to rationalize and a snap to execute after reading the inspirational messages here.

It is a FaceBook group that asked to do a special marking on the knife. They ordered about 80 of them.

The Ivory on that knife is just spectacular...WOW! Congrats on getting a real gem sir!

His name is Gus but I'm not entirely sure if he's on Bladeforums or not. I only know him through Facebook. :) He did do a great job on this logo though in my opinion.

Thanks Jake. Also thank you to everyone for your kind comments. I agree with Jake, this is certainly a keeper. Matter of fact, I plan to get one in bone also. It's a 3.5" knife that carries smaller, that's a sweet spot for me.

Yes he did, Jake! Very classy. The #15 frame is so perfect for a carry knife that it has become my everyday pocket friend and probably will remain so.

Thank you for the explanation Derrick.
Does that give you any ideas of a paradigm shift to another venue whom may also like the branded logo (BFP), huh? Just thinking outside the box.;)

I am always open to helping--whether as a Northwoods or just lasering the logos. I would donate the laser time just to be a part. :)

Very good looking #15.

my name is swaybacksteve and my last name starts with a P...automatic grail, although I doubt anyone in the SP will shift their paradigm on this beauty!

That is a very nice looking knife... I had better log off now before another knife is on its way to my house

First beautiful knives guys! That camel bone looks unique and just dang cool, I love the design.

Just got mine in the mail. This is my first elephant ivory. Indoors I was struck by how nice it looked and felt.. then I took it outside. It was like putting 3d glasses on. All of the character just popped out! I tried to capture it with the picture but it just doesn't do it justice. Beautiful fit and finish, great transitions, centered blade, respectable snap, zero liner gaps even under a bright lamp, and I agree that the EO is much more then eye candy. It makes this sucker so easy to use its ridiculous :p GEC and Derrick knocked this one out of the park. Also on my never sell list.

I already have the camel bone coming in tomorrow, but these posts are tempting me to be in trouble with the wife & get the ivory as well! Such a great looking knife.

Is there a reason why so many of the GEC made knives have one or more handle pins sunk so deeply ? Other than the hole collecting dirt and becoming a germ garden, my concern is that there is less handle material for the pin to grip and easier for a crack to develop. It is the smooth handle covers that seem most likely to have these deeply sunk pins.
