Northwoods Fremont Jack...Need Comparison Pics.

I've heard the blade on this knife called a modified sheepsfoot but also called a wharncliffe. Which one is it?

I really should stop coming to this forum. It is damaging to my bank account. Now I have to figure out how to fund a new Northwoods knife.

Looks like they are coming in quickly, KSF just uploaded the OD micarta!!

Gonna hold out for a nice yellow camel bone :)

I see you have one already in stag so they must be good if you're coming back for another one.
I'm not sure yet but I'm gravitating towards the blue bone. I just took a look at the GEC website and that yellow bone is beautiful. I'm actually thinking about grabbing two now.

I have the Fremont in Calico Bone and Stag and I'm thinking about picking up another.

That is Calico Bone from the previous run not Yellow Camel Bone. I haven't had it long enough to notice any aging of the bone. I'm most interested in the Camel Bone as well.

I see. That's a nice one also. Love the patina on the bottom one.

I think the yellow camel bone are going to be the ones to watch! GEC had some issues dying them, so they did an experiment with them and they said they have a lot of "depth." I don't know what that means, but I am excited to see them.

The camel bone is the same price as the micarta and the mammoth is a lot more.

I put this in the shopping cart three times, and made it as far as the paypal checkout screen once... but I've held off so far. Dammit.

Interesting, I was thinking blue but now I might go yellow. Thanks for the info, Derrick. I saw the Micarta ones up on the site already and they look nice.

Derrick, Can you tell us the difference between the calico bone, and the yellow camel bone? I have the calico (and love it, btw), but thought the yellow bone might look the same as the calico.

The calico bone is cow bone and the calico part is the method/color they use to die it.

That is about all I know.

As to the camel bone. One of the cool things about the camel bone is that it doesn't take die as well as cow. Instead, it gets cool streaks and stuff in it. That is why I like it so well. Something went wrong with the dye job on this batch and so Bill experimented.

From looking at the website, they look very different from anything we have had before.

oops...just went to the GEC site... Looks like yellow camel bone looks a lot like yellow camel bone!

I'm sure in person they have a whole other look Derrick. From the pic it kind of looks like they have some nice depth to them, like MOP does.

Really excited to get my hands on one!!

Love the fremont jack platform, perfect edc.

I'm going for one of the blue bones but they all look good. I missed the boat the last time but this time I will grab one for sure.

I pulled the trigger on an OD Green Micarta Fremont Jack. Can't wait!
