Northwoods Madison Barlow

Gotcha, it just looks like there isn't much to grab onto. My fingernails aren't the strongest anymore.

I've had mine for a couple of weeks and it is forming a nice patina. After the patina started developing I can pinch the blade and open it. I don't use the nail nick anymore.

Hey guys- The reason I didn't answer the jigged bone question here is that there is a specific rule against talking about availability (especially for dealers) so we tried to answer it privately as much as possible.

I am glad you guys are liking these. they really are my favorite Northwoods.

Newest addition joins my first Madison. I really like the brown sawcut handles... great job all around!

For those that have multiple Madison's, do you find much difference in weight between the different handle materials? My Cocobolo is wonderful, but almost disarmingly light for its size.

Did anybody pick up any of the cross cut mammoth that was for sale Saturday? If so, post a picture. From the short glimpse I saw on Facebook, that looked like some prime stuff.

IMO, they are all light for their size. The wood and the denim were the lightest, but not a huge difference.

Is that last knife cross cut mammoth? So much character, I'd end up just staring at it all day!

Very nice group you've got there.

Jordanlh that crosscut mammoth is striking. I love the look of mammoth, but I bought a whillamette whittler and I'm afraid to use it. I have no problem at all using stag and putting patina in those knives but I have trouble doing the same with mammoth. For this reason I opted for a osage orange. I very sturdy wood. I asked for one with interesting grain or a knot. I was blown away with the iridescence of the grain. In the sunlight is has a butterscotchy hard candy essence. I'm very please with the one they grabbed me. I find this blade able to be pinchable at first and now that I've acquired some patina, it's effortless. Something I truly enjoy in a folder.

I haven't seen many pics of the osage so here it goes. I can already tell this is going to age beautifully. I'm quite impressed by this knife.

BearBug,

Thanks! I agree. I had to get the micarta version just to make sure I would use them.

And that's a striking knife there, sir! I like the look of that patina. I agree that these are going to age beautifully.

Nice stuff Jordandh! The single blade is hand filling but still thin and pretty light for the size of knife.
