Not a Happy Customer...

I just went through this whole thread and will add my two cents.

Part of the problem is that since this is in the Spyderco forum IT WILL make people take sides without knowing everything.

Spyderco has the right to do what they want in this situation and it might gain or lose them potential buyers.

I've had (what I thought) was a warranty issue with Spyderco in the past and was told it wasn't. I think warranty problems get blown out of proportion in this subforum because you have people posting how amazing they are and will do anything if you ask them.

In ***my*** experience other knife makers have been easier to deal with than Spyderco about warranty issues. I'm not saying that Spyderco doesn't make great knives because they do. I will say that I know what Spyderco knives I want to stay away from...

Interesting thread, thanks for posting.
Unfortunately it is not a first time I see people disappointed in Spyderco Warranty, that is why I have limited my purchasing of their blades. Not all people would prefer spending their time arguing about fixing 60$ knife, I would probably leave it at Spyderco CS and tell 'em to keep it and do what they want with it (cause I would not spend a penny more on it). That is my personal view of the situation.

Ya I doubt Spyderco would keep that knife around. But if everything goes south I may do a giveaway on the forums.

Are you suggesting that you are going to give away this Endura?

I'm a bit confused as well.

That's like giving away a lawnmower that likes to detach it's blade while running at random points...

I had a good experience with Spyderco warranty service. I bought a Rookie that had a metal defect on the blade at the lockup point....when I got it from an online vendor. The metal was flaking and looked cracked at lockup. Spyderco replaced the knife with a note indicating that they wanted to keep the defective model for testing to see what was wrong.
Service was much faster than I had from other knife companies when I made a return.
I was a happy camper.

That would be asking for trouble IMO....

I would say either get it fixed or trash it.

"Hey Dad, happy birthday!" **hands over present**

"WOW, an endura I have always wanted one!" **Spydie dropping in excitement**

"No problem, I got a good deal"

A week in and now "dad" can only count to nine on his fingers.

Ok guys I got an email back from Charlynn. I am not getting a warranty repair. I can pay $20 and they will repair it, but they will not do a warranty repair. She said they inspected it and the back spacer shows signs of wear and that is usually a sign of improper dissasembly. She said due to my past history of sending in knives improperly assembled, along with the worn backspacer, she will not warranty the knife. I sent her an email back telling her that I do not agree with the conclusion, because I have not disassembled the knife, but I will honor it. I am getting the knfe shipped back to me unfixed. As far as my history goes, I did send in a knife I bought on BF with stripped screws and a knife I bought on BF as well that was a franken millie that needed some detent work done on it. I guess that was enough for them to paint a picture of me. I would probly have to have an ironclad warranty issue if I ever want something fixed from them again. Anyway, I did not dissasemble this knife, I believe this backspacer wear was done through normal use. In my opinion it is troubling to me that a knife would have such as weak spacer like that. I don't expect spyderco to believe me, even though I would have liked for them to show some service that goes above and beyond for the customer. If that were the case, I would still be an avid spyderco fan and be purchasing many more blades from them. It is their choice and I will repsect it. And yes, I am giving away the knife, if someone pays for shipping and pp fees, I will ship the knife. All that it needs is a backspacer and it will be good to go. I don't want anything to do with an endura, because I did not break the knife dissasembling it and I dont want a knife in my lineup that is that unrealiable. Drop me a pm if anyone wants it. :)

How can you be giving it away if someone pays the shipping and Paypal fees? Just curious.

I'm not an expert on paypal, if there's no paypal fees for shipping then thats fine, whatever the cost is for shipping.

there are no surcharges on purchasing a shipping label through paypal.

usps priority w/o ins would probably be about $5.

Yet another shining example of "customer service" à la Spyderco :thumbdn:

On the other hand, why bother when there are many other companies that actually value their customers.
