Not amused by this knife's name

Just like someone to find serious issue with a name of a knife. Laci designed that knife as a mega-tactical FIGHTING knife and tried to convey a 'mindset" that "EL SACA TRIPAS" has a specific function. It is a very poor choice to open envelopes and sit in a Cherry executive furnitured Office and cut scotch tape. But, if you find yourself in a FIGHT FOR YOUR LIFE, and the ONLY Tool for defense MUST be a knife, my bet would be on a person well-trained in using his "Intenstine slicer 3,000 or his disembowler 1155. The name implies nothing more than a mindset. That is the Knife-maker's perogative. Do not like the name, do NOT buy it.
And the argument about "what is a Deadly weapon?" The Best description is: Any object capable of causing death or serious bodily injury being used for that specific purpose at THAT specific time. So, if you hit someone in the head with a frying pan, you have used a "deadly weapon" in NH. if you smack someone in the knutts with a baseball bat, yup, a deadly weapon. If you use a telephone and hit someone and cause death...yup, you got it.
A knife is a weapon, WHEN used as such. a knife is a tool when used as such. Many knives are designed to be a TOOL, a TOOL of SELF-DEFENSE and any other use is secondary......wolf

Real men walk softly and carry a big stick. They don't need fancy names to buoy their self esteem. Most of the toughest and wisest men I've known didn't wear their pride or their politics on their sleeve. Why do so many here feel the need to broadcast an image of badass masculinity?

That said, I think that naming a knife the "Disemboweler" is just bravado crap, and the responses like "Screw 'em if they can't handle it" is more of the same. You want to win people over to an appreciation of knives? Be rational. Teach them how blades have a utilitarian function. Gradually, they might come to understand that one utility is self defense.

But why would you want to come across as a Rambo wanna-be? People here who rail against political correctness seem intent on cutting off their noses to spite their faces. Wake up. The last thing we need is liberal soccer moms yelling to their representatives that fixed blade knives are all evil and need legislative control. You might get a little pleasure out of your non-PC defiance, but you're missing the bigger picture. People aren't going to suddenly leap to your way of thinking if you come across as a potential killer.

This knife is obviously designed to gut people. How many of us carry a knife for that sole function?

The "el saca tripas" has two markets: serious men who kill for a living and don't brag about it AND braggarts who want to project an image. Which group do you think has the larger market share? Ahh...there's the reason for the name.

Well, I've avoided commenting on this thread for a long time, and I just can't stand it anymore.

A few thoughts...

1. I've never bought a knife because I liked the name.

2. I think if someone designs and then actually makes a knife, (or anything else) he/she should be allowed to call it whatever they please, it's a free country. (theoretically)

3. The Sheeple are going to bleat in terror over that knife whether you call it "The Disembowler" or "The Daisy Trimmer." Let's not lend those idiots any credibility by basing our actions on their feelings. (Rather than thoughts.) Doing so will only encourage them in the mistaken belief that they are worth listening to.

FWIW, YMMV, etc.

I agree this thread has kind of worn itself out.

Ken, you don't suppose that's why the most powerful non-nuclear bomb ever built is called a "Daisy Cutter" do you? :D :D

I think Ill name my next short sword the "Head Cleaver" Or maybe what my SRT line really stands for. Sentry Removal Tools. Of course I have never been accused of being a poster boy for the PC crowd. I kinda like the un PC stuff! :p

BAMFHCO!! Short for Bad a-- m----r f----r head chopper offer!!!

I saw a knife not so long ago named"The Flesh Eater"
Love it.:) :) :) :) :) :)

I'm sure the denizens of Hiroshima and Nagasaki took no comfort in the cute names given to the bombs dropped on their cities: Fat Man and Little Boy.

When one must dance around with semantics, something vital has already been lost. Logic and reason have little to do with oppressive legislation.
