Not Your Mama's Knives vs. KNIFEWORKS

Behind every solid company is a solid guy who makes things work. At Knifeworks it's Roger, at Knifecenter it's Howard, at 1SKS it's Spark, at Knife Supply it's Shawn, at A.G. Russell it's....(well, you surely can figure that one out).

Why attempt to save $2 when you know one of these guys will take care of you?

At Collectorknives it is Mike Latham, straight up good guy to deal with.

Glad to know about Knifeworks also. I would not by from anyone with a company name about not your mama's knives. It is just a bad vibe from the start.

another +1 to Knifeworks. I ordered a few days before Christmas and the order was shipped promptly. No holiday rush delay with these guys.

2 flawless transactions with not your momma's knives (4 knives in total). Knife works doesn't sell autos, so I may never get to talk to Roger. I laugh when I see people trying to sell their used knives for $35 dollars more than what I paid for the same knife new from not you momma's. ;) ILK

Well, now I know- knifeworks has a separate auto division. I did a little price comparison from the 4 knives I bought from NYMK. I saved $36.90 on three knives. The 4th knife knifeworks didn't have in stock. I prefer to save money over talking to a nice guy on the phone, but that just me. To each his own. :D ILK

I bought 2 Microtech Ultratechs from not ya moma's knives, more than $350.00. The knives didn't work correctly; they wouldn't open or retact properly. I complained, and I got a bunch of static from Not-moma's knives. Everything from oil them differently to hold them correctly. Then I was brushed off to the manufacturer, whom won't accept the knife unless they come from the shop or from police. To add insult, the Mom's knives dudes doubled my shipping charges beause I ordered 2, and that free shipping on orders over $125.00 does not apply if you have a military APO address. By the way, it doesn't cost anything more to ship to a military APO. Not your moma's evidently doesn't support the military, and does not believe an APO is part of the USA. Too bad I can't cuss on here, because I have an opinion about these Not Your Moma's guys. In regards to AUTO KNIVES, I-love-kittens is obviously en employee of NYMK, because yes Knife works does sell autos. They have a link to "Auto Knife Works". Their prices are excellent, and they don't sell "seconds" of defective knifes. I bought a Fallkneiven F-1 from Knife works, which is an excellent knife, and it was much cheaper than NYMK. If anyone wants to read the rude emails I received from NYMK, I'd be happy to send you copies. Bottom Line, stay with Knife Works, and avoid anything "Not your Moma's". I won't even visit their web site. Stay safe.

the past few months ive spent nearly 500$ on knifeworks, got a small sebenza 21, benchmade, kershaws, all kinds of blades. They were ALWAYS in stock and were on my door step within 2 days from ordering.. Knifeworks is one of the best.

I've dealth with both companies and had good experience with both.
Just got my Bradley Mayhem from NotYourMamasKnives a few weeks ago.
They replied to my inquiries by e-mail quickly and held the knife for me to order.
I ordered over the phone. Got the order a few days later.

+1 Knifeworks....not that another positive is needed.

I've done a lot of looking on numerous forums and I have yet to see a single negative comment about KW.
Dealt with them several times and had total positive experiences.

Roger (the owner, btw) is a pleasure to deal with and talk to if you happen to get him.
His ladies are also outstanding, knowledgeable, and always helpful.

To be fair, New Graham and Knifecenter are also great to deal with.

Not your mama's knives? The name itself sounds stupid.

Agreed. Seems like a childish operation the website doesn't even load correctly on opera BOOOOOOOO. Although Auto knife works is out of like EVERY microtech they carry....

I have to say I had a good experience with Not your mamas knives. I ordered a Pro-Tech-3 X2 Tactical Response (fish scale & part serrated). Not only did I get the knife quickly but they had the best price that I could find. I'm not sure what the deal is with their web site though, it's hard to log in for some reason.
I read that a lot of you like KNIFEWORKS so I went to their site and for some reason they don't handle Pro-Tech. I'm here to tell you the knife I bought is a real beauty, extremely quick to open and solid. I could have bought Benchmade but through reviews and testemonies I went with this all black Tactical. I am real happy with it.
Just wanted to let some of you know that my experience with Not Your mamas knives was a good one.

Actually they do, they just list them on their sister site autoKnifeworks (there is a link on the main KW page)....same folks, same great service, just a different URL.

I've ordered from Knifeworks 3 times and have always been very happy with the price and service. They even made sure I got a last minute delivery on time for a Christmas Present. No experience with Not Yo Mama's.

For those people who have stuck up for us, thank you. We have a very large number of repeat customers that have been a privilege to work with over the years.
For those who have had bad experiences, we are truly sorry. It stings to read about people who have bad tastes left after dealing with us, and that motivated us to work on the bad areas. This started as a one man operation, running a website to pay the bills and going to school full time. There was a lot that was neglected, customer service probably being at the top of that list.

Since then we have learned and grown, and now have an individual dedicated to customer service full time. Phone calls are either answered, or returned promptly (as long as a message is left- we do not have E.S.P.) Email questions are also returned very quickly now.
In addition to our new focus on customer service, we have greatly improved our website. This has been a process (still underway) that we have spent many months and hundreds of hours on. Among other things
-Orders are not billed until they ship
-Most shipments go out the same day (next day if they are placed after hours or after the UPS pickup.) we do not do backorders, our website will not let you order a product if our inventory shows it is out of stock.
-You are able to compare items side by side (measurements, materials, etc.)
-We have a points rewards system (similar to the way the American Express system works, only with ours you can get discounts or even free knives.)
-We have an iPhone app for our store, they are just finishing up on the last of the bugs, it should be officially released in early November.

For those who have had bad experiences in the past, again we are sorry. And if you would like to call and tell us about it, we would be happy to hear about it so that we can learn and improve going forward, allowing us to become better.

888-387-7161 is our toll free line. Jake is always eager to hear from you.
