NOTABLE PAIRS : Only traditionals

To me, this pair is notable, both for what I consider to be nicely-matched handle covers and for reminding me of the wonderful people who inhabit this forum. The Sodbuster Jr is one I won in a GAW sponsored by Big Biscuit (before his recent epic Jimmy Fund fundraiser) and the swayback jack is a gift from Paul Hilborn, who looks like a big guy to me, but that physical stature is dwarfed by the size of his heart!

Thanks, Bob. When that Sodbuster arrived from you, all of a sudden I started seeing chestnut bone swayback jacks pictured all over the place, and thought how nicely the SBJr and the SBJ would go together. ;);)

Will - I'm lovin' those Sway Backs:thumbup::thumbup: That is 2 of my favorites also:)
Primble - That is a wonderful pair of old school beauties there:thumbup::thumbup:

Ed, that's a sweet copperhead! But the Farmall really grabbed me (and took me back 50+ years)!
What model is that? We had an H and an M when I was a kid; I put in a lot of hours on a Farmall seat (without the padding in your pic). We had an old F-20, too, but by the time I was driving tractor, we didn't use it much at all.

Incredible pair, John!!

I'm always a sucker for coffin handles:

I'm a sucker for coffin handles as well, and the BRKT Rogue Bowies are some of my all-time favorites. Lovely pair you've got there! I'm turning green over here. :D ;)

This is the third thread into which I've posted this photo, and for that I apologize... but I feel like it belongs here as well. This is definitely a notable pair, in my opinion. These two complement each other very nicely.

Shark and snake, Mako and Viper:

Nice shark and snake combo!!

My contribution is what my kids picked out for me. I just found the little Boker last week, and am glad I took the MOP inlay as a hint as it's the first true ivory knife I've found in an antique market! (Verified nervously with the pin test). I asked them to pick a pair that works well together so my son chose the GEC. Such awesome little knifers I have!! It's hard to tell but the inlay shield is very pink (?black lip?pink lip?MOP? I'm not familiar with what shells Boker used), so mates well with the abalone of the GEC!

My spear point TC Barlows:

Obviously, the walnut is in the rotation, and the redbone is waiting for its day to come.

Here are some Camillus's #18, #14, #72 etc.

Got a #14 in amber jigg coming to go with it's two #18's in same.

Thanks! There is just something about that design that really calls to me. And unlike the more 'fighter-specific' designs that the Bowie evolved into later with a heavy, full guard and exaggerated clip point, I find this to be a more useful all-around design. Which isn't too surprising, given its pragmatic origin as a general-use Spanish trade knife.

Notable by weight and size alone. I'm having a " What was I thinking moment":D

Best regards

Robin
