1998 Limited Edition Russell Barlow and Daddy Barlow 2 knife set.
440 stainless steel single blades, nickel bolsters, brass pins/liners, are 3.375" and 5" closed.
HISTORY: 1998 Russell Barlow Limited Edition 2 knife display set produced by Colonial Knives and were their high end top shelf examples. Bone and Stag sets were produced. There was a small single blade and a grand daddy single blade barlow in each set, and were matched serial numbered.
Note the Diamonds on the tang stamp. As Colonial was in financial difficulty when they produced the barlows, the blades were stamped by Dexter-Russell using their own steel from AK Steel in Coshocton ,Ohio. They (Dexter-Russell) also supplied the steel for and stamped the springs. The blades are 440A Stainless Steel. 440A is a high-carbon martensitic stainless steel developed to provide stainless properties with maximum hardness. Dental and surgical instruments and cutlery are frequent applications of this steel.

Actually have two notable pairs in this week's pocket rotation. Boker single-blade Expedition Barlow and Stockman. Case Sway Back Gent and single-blade Tear Drop, both barehead Sawcut Jigged Amber Bone.

I like their amber jigged bone too, but I think Case really does a good job with their reds. Here's a pic of the "medium" Texas Jack with it's big brother.
