NOTABLE PAIRS : Only traditionals

Legendary Stag there Trand! Complex shield to inlet on that rocky surface:D

Thanks, Will

A pair of jacks I picked up from Collectorknives, a 77 and a 78. This would be a great two-pocket carry, with four different blades.

Bob, those siblings are great. Did you do the coping and EZ open mods?
Thank you James. I did the EO mod on the micarta 77. I also transformed the TC from a Spey Main to a Spearpoint and the secondary pen into a coping blade. The 2011 #85 Forum Knife came with a factory EO.

Nice work Bob. EZ open looks like a factory offering and I completely missed the Spey to Spear blade mod to the TC ... it's that good, very professional. I managed a spey to spear mod on a Buck 301, don't know if I have the courage to attempt it on a my TC ... yet. Yours turned out so well it may inspire me to give it a try. All good looking and useful improvements.:thumbup:

Got this pair for Christmas. Both from GEC's most recent run of #25's, both serial number 50.

I have a decent number of "near-pairs" in my collection but to date I think I've made two "cosmic" matches, the knife equivalent of soulmates.

For those of you who want the full multimedia experience, hit play on this first:

___

My first pair are as yet unnamed, and a small pair they are. If they were at Disney, they wouldn't be able to ride Space Mountain. If they were in a clothing store, they'd have to shop in the kids' section. If they were hands in Texas Hold'em, they would get folded every time except in the blind.

They are Case's #610096 tiny toothpick and #62156 Wharncliffe tuxedo, both with stainless blades and arrowhead shields and both in Kentucky bluegrass bone.

Would you believe I first picked up the toothpick in this color because I wanted a green bone knife for the watch pocket and Case's other "green" offerings looked too drab? Oh well, that bluegrass sure did look green to me...

...HA! Now you see why I selected the song in the video! (Plus, it just rocks. :D)

The pair below do have a name, "Lennie and George". George is the 1970 #62009½ red bone 2-blade 10-dot Barlow and Lennie is the 1973 #6143 daddy Barlow underneath.

George is the small and crafty fella, while Lennie's forte is brute force. Together, there's nothing they can't take on.

These two were born with matching scales, though perhaps Lennie's were installed on the wrong sides in the beginning. :p

Well, thanks for listening to the tale of two twosomes. Going through some of my knives I am seeing more and more natural pairs, so I think I'll be posting some new stuff in the near future. I've also got a lot of TL-29 "cousins" and Barlow "neighbors" to sort through, so that should provide some decent couplings too.

Nice to see this thread up and about again

Tsar That Daddy Barlow has a most interesting groove to it, look forward to seeing more notables from you.

Here's Bonestag from Queen and Bark River

Thanks! If I had to choose (and thank goodness I don't) I would probably call those two Barlows my favorites overall. George, the small Barlow, also has a groove on the lighter-colored scale (mark side) very similar to Lennie's massive pile-side groove, but it starts closer to the edge and is less-pronounced. Pretty much a microcosm of the relationship between those two. :p

I will be going through the box of limited runs I have, there are a few matched sets in there I think will work nicely in this thread. More to come possibly as early as this weekend.
