Novelty survival knife lol ACCORDING TO PEOPLE ON SURVIVALISTBOARDS!

We've made huge improvements to hollow handle knives in time. I believe the current run of modern knives are quality tools. The Boker plus is a killer deal for what it is, not something I'd carry personally. But I've seen great reviews on them, and own one as well.

Survival tools are subjective.

Am i the only one speaking english? Sometimes it seem to me, that its very possible....Also please, feel free and go back to what its written there...If some guys can't logically comprehend simple text and its meaning,i feel sorry for them.

Yes. We are the ones getting English wrong. A survival knife is not a self defense knife any more than a fillet knife is a self defense knife. Show me a scene in one of the survival shows where the host stabs some bad guy, and I will agree with you...but until then, you are wrong. Sorry.

You can go back to context and read again-and again and make sure,again....i am writing in english buddy.

Okay, so here you write an several paragraphs about the importance of having a weapon handy:

Seriousbladeno1 said:
Related to knife he is holding and any criticism towards its purpose of "survival tool"-EVERY KNIFE THAT YOU HAVE AT YOUR DISPOSAL -WILL BECOME SURVIVAL KNIFE IN EVERY LIFE THREATENING SITUATION,-very same apply to word "weapon",,,,,every substance, every material, liquid, gas, etc included paper, can be turned into effective weapon,if one is aware of this and knows how to turn ordinary things into weapons....

Truth however is people are killed daily in weapons rich environments, because most of them fail to comprehend what weapon means and are unable to transform ordinary things into them.Only and most important definition of this failure is the way we comprehend and understand our surroundings...

Example of life threatening situation during assasination attempt on two guys in same scenario: both empty handed ("unarmed")

One man will be convinced himself defencless and will die, because his understanding of weapon is not correct.Another man in same situation will consider himself fully armed by number of weapons which he will succesfuly use with best of skills...

Was this all supposed to be some extended analogy? Well you were asked about it, and just got contrite:
Are you sure??? For me this "rule of yours" does not apply at all...(i will turn any knife into both of the above you mentioned,at any time according my needs.....I am in charge of my knife-knife i hold is not in charge of me!!!)

Clearly, you weren't understood, and instead of making an effort to clarify your post to the people that didn't understand it, you posted another multi-paragrapher about the variation in survival situations. Since you quoted Marcinek, it appeared that you were finally going to clarify your earlier post about weapons, but you didn't.

And now you're being insulting about it. Our English is just fine. There are many non-native English posters on this board, and most everybody makes allowances for trying to understand each other, and you're not doing so. You are writing rambling, seemingly off topic posts and are then being cryptic when asked to clarify. The fact that you can't seem to use punctuation or spaces properly doesn't help matters.

Everyone here understands that the knife you actually have with you is the best survival tool. Everyone also understands that a tool is not a replacement for knowledge or mindset when your life is in danger. Your confusing analogy did not make that any clearer to anyone.

And, none of what you wrote had anything to do with the OP - a survival knife shaped replica that would be a poor choice to use for any situation where a knife might come in handy.

So,sorry me English not, good like you.

This kind of discussion is very polarizing, a love/hate kind of thing.

One thing to consider before defending your view, defend the position don't personally speak to the aggressor, it will not end well.

And on topic...that Surv Tac is only exceeded in its silliness by the Hellion. Utter knife design nonsense (but marketing brilliance) in my opinion.

And can we share in what is the "utter knife design nonsense" of the Hellion (aside initial sharpness)?

I'm waiting with bated breath...

Also, you don't quite have to pigeonhole a "Survival Knife" to a specific purpose, since it is supposed to be versatile: Most Hollow Handle "Survival Knives" are not specifically designed for combat, but they often have a slim point profile which robs survival-oriented chopping power: I would say those with heavy blunt points are the truly "Survival" specialized ones (Extrema Ratio makes several), while the pointy ones are a compromise to try to overlap into "fighting" use to some extent..

Here is the RJ Martin design Survival Knife, and it is fully optimized for combat in every way, even being referred to as a "fighting" Survival Knife... One notable relevant feature is the discrete Parrish-like sawback design, which is here even reversed to further avoid impeding withdrawal of the knife after stabbing (a big issue): A true Survival/Fighting knife, by design...

For once, I feel compelled to disagree. The silliest survival knife ever is the Manu Knife! http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&r...2zyMaMVEAv1kbzq4RgQjruw&bvm=bv.89381419,d.dGc
I remember discussing the design a year ago, & thinking it probably wouldn't go into production. It seems I was wrong.

OP, the only opinion that matters is your own. Use the knife, if it works, it works. After that, only one other thing matters: trust. Do you trust the knife to still be in useable condition at the end of your next trip?

This should be cross posted in the TactiLOL knives thread... Bet it must be fun to sharpen!

I remember as a kid (8 or 10?) I saw the "Survival Knife... WITH COMPASS!" in a comic book ad or something and wanted it SO bad.

In the end (because I didn't have any money), I settled on borrowing my Dad's Camillus Pilot's Survival Knife when we'd go camping. So may hot dog sticks were made...

The Words 'paroxysms of laughter' come to mind when ever that 'knife' is mentioned :-)

I shouldnt laugh though; truth be told, the 'knife' looks like an accident waiting to happen...
