whatdya have in yours? For those of you who are clueless like me a BOB is a "bug out bag".

And just to so you don't try anything funny, I already know that a bottle of scotch is required.

Fusion pulse rifle in the 20 megawatt range......
Inflatable sex doll
ninja stars
marshmallow fluff
binaca

Ten assorted Busses, a carton of Byrd's custard, a spork, some paracord and a copy of playboy. And the Scotch.

One of the best places on this site for that info is the Wilderness and Survival section. There are many posts on BOB's and what they have in them. I keep all kinds of things in mine from a prybaby, to water purification tablets, robe, compass, maps, matches, lighters, tinder, flares etc. I have alot in it and am always dropping stuff in. I put a farro rod in the other day along with a fire piston. If I cant make a fire with the 5-10 different ways in my bag I am reallys screwed. I also keep a fishing kit, space blankets, reflector, MRE's and other things. It really is cool to have, and i have a couple of these bags and there all set up a little differently.

They are kind of addicting actually because you get an excuse to buy more toys and then look for more usefull stuff.

Fixed it for ya. Ten demerits for not knowing that. ;) (megawatts - what are you tryin to do? Destroy a whole city???)

I've got a Basic 9 and a Mud Razor. I'd considered upgrading to one of my ASH-1's, but the weight will not be worth it with one chappah already.

I actually have been working on this for the past 6 months. I have 2 versions.

(1) One that I keep with me at work so that I can make it home. I only work approx. 16 miles from my house but that usually translates to an hour drive on an average day. I can't imagine how long that might be in an emergency. In fact, driving might even be out of the question if roads are out.

(2) One that I keep at home, in the corner, as more of a family BOB. Much larger but not over done. This one is still under construction.

I'll post pics in a bit! I am new to the whole BOB idea. Or at least the part about actually putting one together.

BTW: Dennis, is the binaca for the inflatable sex doll? :p:p

Now, normally I would not advocate a BOB to anyone as anything other than a hobby. BUT ... Tyrkon lives in Southern California.

For Tyrkon, a BOB or two is probably a necessity!

I'd advise Tyrkon to get out of there, but he's doing good work for young people who really need him. Fortunately, as a knife knut, he's better prepared than most.

Terrycloth or silk?

Actually thanks for being the only one who gave any type of serious answer. Damn you silly hogs.:D

Lol sorry I meant rope and or para-cord, though a robe would be sweet too!

Oh I also keep handwarmers:thumbup:

Like Tyrkon I have a smaller almost EDC bag which is more urban and I have others that have stuff for me and several people which are much larger. You should also check out BOE's or Bags of Evil. Mercop has a huge list of things he keeps in his and my edc bag is formated more toward this.

He has a cool take on his stuff!

The difficult part is that IF a disaster of some kind occured I have to first get my students out safely. But knowing teenagers, especially 8th graders, they will all run out screaming. Luckily, a majority of them live in the surrounding neighborhood.

My BOBs are not over the top "dooms day" types. Just practical stuff like flash light, multi tool, first aide, etc...

I figure it's better to be ready and not need it then to need it and not me ready.

One thing I forgot to mention is BATTERIES! hahaha I know it seems a bit "yeah no kidding" but you'd be suprised how quick you can go through them AND if you are like me and have Surefires (which dont usually take AA's) its important to have the right batteries for your flashlights, radios etc. The "doomsday" bag I have is kind of heavy and like Tyrkon I dont need anything like that unless the SHTF so to speak.

LOL,

I told a woman I ride with that I kept my B.O.B. in the saddle bag.....

.....she looked at me kinda puzzled, YOU have a "Battery Operated Boyfriend ?":foot::barf:

Then I noticed she and her friends all had a 'I only date B.O.B.' patch on their vests.

I now always say 'Bug Out Bag' !! :o

Living in Fla and on the water 12ft above sea level .I've always had a B.O.B. After each Hurricane season we use up our supplies and then restock for the following season .Thats the only bad side about it 3 or 4 months a year . It could be worse . This past year we were very luckly .Had on brush with a tropical storm named Barry if you look at my dock in this pic you can see the water .we were lucky it didn't hit a high tide . In the past my dock has been over 4ft under water .

Here are a couple of pics of the small BOB I keep with me at work. Still in progress though.

And, yeah, extra batteries are a must. I am going to invest in one or more of the smaller lights that take AAA or AA batteries as they are so much easier to find in an emergency.

I got a small BOB that I keep near me with the usual stuff in there (batteries, first aid kit, para cord, lighters, BM, 24hrs rations). I keep a bag in my car with the bigger stuff like a sleeping bag more rations, a pair of boots, spare set of clothes, and other bits and pieces.
Got to be careful in the UK, even carrying a leatherman here is an offence, no excuses straight to the cells for the night. Recommended 3yr sentence, so if they found a BM on me I probably wouldn't be out much before the 50th Busse anniversary lol.

Mainly peanut brittle.

Seriously?

Here's what's in my day pack in the truck:

basic first-aid kit
basic survival kit (whistle, signal mirror, fire starters, compass, etc.)
fleece hat
leather gloves
BATAC with Leatherman Charge XTi in pouch
paracord
head lamp
LED flashlight
polypropylene underwear
rain gear, including rain hat
fleece pullover
large knife (Battle Rat or CG FBM)
sunglasses
water bottle

I'm soon going to add a .75L cookpot and a Brasslite stove.

Edited to add: In the summer, I add bug repellant and sun block.
