Now that I know what a BOB is . . .

my new pack kicks sirus ASH...... It has the ASH1 CG with mag g-10 a SS and mora MK2. plus the most of the gear seen above. i went to a smaller pack it's a mili spec. very nice little number. it will be my avatar with the ASH1 riding shot gun for the picture.will take pics one day soon. if your making a B.O.B IMO you should make sure it floats and learn to swim with it. cause if your using your B.O.B the the fan is running full speed and hard to say where you might land.

I just have a ewe with a bunch of infi duct taped to her.

what? why are you looking at me like that?

Why is that OP?

Because I'm both a foolish optimist and a terrible pessimist!

On the one hand, I feel that we're going to be OK ... outside of unfortunate events like Hurricane Katrina. And I don't live in areas like that.

On the other hand, I feel that if things get bad ... it's likely to be SO bad that a BOB won't help me much.

But I'm open to re-education! Perhaps I've 'missed the boat' here and need to assemble a BOB or two of my own...

OP if your a urban dweller than theres not much need for a bob pack there is so much of everything you need rite there, all you need is somthing to stop pepole from taking whats yours. i don't consider mine the o sh!t pack i call it entertainment but i live in a rual area with lots of woods and hike a bunch. so my pack has things that are entertaining while in the woods with others. i practice bushcraft, trap making ,and shelter buliding while im out. OH AND LET'S NOT FORGETFIREstarting. any way if you have a B.O.B IMO you should train with it all the time. with my heavy pack at 45lbs i can travel 1 mile in just under 17 mins. your pack needs to suit your needs with thing you both want and need that way your sure not to leave it at home or in the car. My pack goes every where with me. some pepole make fun but it's no more funny than pepole running around with that blue tooth headset on all the time either.:D

Hmm, I'm more a suburbanite. Still, perhaps all I'd need is fairly close (I have a buffer zone of 2.2 miles). As to 'something to stop people from taking what's mine' ... I definitely have that covered. In several different ways.

But, as I said, I'm still open to potential re-education.

actually, ive also been working on one.

Hey TL, what brand is the top left pouch? Looks like it would be handy.

The one on the top left in the pic? Folds then zips on three sides?

I've got one that came from a Knob Creek dealer - I use it at work. At the Indy 1500, they had a bunch of 511 brand pouches like that.

They are made specifically to be an organizer in the BDU cargo pocket.

This is the one from the creek.

I think of mine as more of an "E-Kit" or emergency kit. Just the basics to get me home to the family. My kit is full of things I use all the time anyway = flash light, multi-tool, etc...

I tend to agree with OP in that I am pretty optimistic. I had a friend a while back who always pointed out the next disaster. Not one has come to pass. Sad way to live if you ask me.

On the other hand there is nothing wrong with a little preparedness. I think my biggest threat is an earthquake. And for that I have plenty of pop rocks and pepsi! :D

PG: Paddlingman's pic looks pretty much the same. I got mine for about $9.00 at a small surplus type store near me.

I think the brand is Mil-Spec Plus

The Canadian gov't and the red cross recommend that every household have a B.O.B
or equivalent with enough supplies for a family of four to last 72 hours...........and thats
exactly what I tell my wife .

i don't expect any great travisty. i just never now when i might see a spot i would like to go check out. thats why i don't call mine a B.O.B. my pack is so when i head off into the wild blue i have what i need should i get lost , hurt or just want to stay a little while. there are many old quarrys and things like that here in indiana i love to explore just to see whats over the next hill.or should a disater like tornado would be the one out here the roads can be blocked by trees, and there nothing going to stand in my way of getting to my fam. like i said before when i have my pack it's no worries... still looking for never never land. if the sh@t hit's the fan i will be bunkered in my basement with lot's of ammo and my wife and kids.

got that covered 72 hrs at home. i have a genarator wired to my house so i make my own power. when my neighbors food is melting in kicking it having kool-aid pop sickels. watching TV.
