I can't ethically support Microtech anymore. I won't buy anymore and I'm selling the ones I have. This is one issue that really ticks me off.

who cares, bm uses spyderco holes and so does everyone else. No one is the soul creator of anything. Companies copy things that work. I personally hate the 777 design but thats just me.

Actually benchmade has been sued by spyderco if i remember right. They had to change a minor detail (difference between a circle and an oval i think decided the case)

Other companies do the right thing and pay royalties and fees to the originating company if they want to share these features. The Microtech is just a straight up copy, they didn't "borrow" anything. They stole the entire design. That'd be like if Ford took a Chevy and put their badges on it and tried to sell it as their own.

I should have quallified my statement. I'm selling the ones I have, right before the Blade Show. If I sell them now, I would spent the money before I got there.

Not just him, Pretty much everyone who is in this thread, anyone who owns a mid to high range knife, anyone who loves a certain brand. What they are doing is allowing knockoffs among major companies to be promoted. I am carrying my kershaw nakamura right now. I don't want to see a MT kumarana (anagram) for 200$ more. The way they are upholding themselves is similiar to that of MilSpec USA (notorious for making blatant chinese knock offs and using the emerson opening system in their products illegally) Tell me, is that Paramilitary 2/strider/Zt0550/Sebenza/whateverthehellyou carry going to be the next in line for fakes to be made? Its like getting money off someone else art

As to caring, I think you'll find yourself in the minority.

Think of how deep this kind of thievery cuts. What if you were a vendor that was busy with a million things and your distributor shipped you this crap? What if you didn't keep up with all the new knife designs on that come out nearly daily and this hot potato wound up in your hands and the first you heard of it was screams from the public?

Will your distributor take them back? How much did you pay for them if they don't? If you are on vacation and there is a rabid attack of indignant fanboys on your site while you are gone, a long internet campaign to kill your site (and business) for handling that junk while you are off visiting relatives somewhere, and what if you are off tending emergency business (my parents are in their 80s) and don't know about this for a couple of days? That's plenty of time for the internet jury to try and convict you of complicity.

And what if you are stuck with inventory? Who pays for that? I have found that folks generally do the right thing if it doesn't cost them too much money out of pocket. And if one person here found you were trying to recoup your losses by selling one of these, you would be hammered to dust here on the forum.

Microtech just didn't hurt themselves with this blatant stupidity, but think of the ripple effect, and how much damage they have done to others. Incredible. After this, why would anyone even want to handle their line? Microtech deserves what ever happens to them. I hope it's ugly.

I say, fight back. License MT's discontinued popular custom designs from their respective creators (i.e. Greg Lightfoot - the LCC, Mike Turber - the Tachyon balisong) and make a knife that has real customer service and warranty behind it, coupled with excellent QC.

Production wise, they should be more successful than the short-lived OTF venture.

if they pay a tribute( i think thats what its called) then it should be fine.

This is definitely not a tribute. This is stealing, how can you not see this?

microtech is a reputable company so im sure its a FAke. thats why i dont care that much.

It's not a fake, Microtech had a prototype out a few months ago with this same design. You really need to research this more before you comment again.

i did not know that, kershaw and KAI should have done something a long time ago then, since microtech had a prototype out a few months ago...

If you knew there was a MT prototype out months ago, why would say this one was fake?
