***NSFW*** Critical Blunder (Injury Warning)

🤣
No, a ZT 0452TI. One of the sharpest production folders I’ve owned.
Probably the scariest moment in my life as I was alone and didn’t know if I’d bleed out. Surprisingly, it barely bled at all.

I have a couple of Israeli bandages in the house, cars, IFAKs, etc in case of something like this. Luckily I have never had to use one. Should probably practice with the whole family just in case.

Btw, you’re not an idiot and accidents happen, the only idiots are the ones who post ignorant comments when these things do happen. I don’t like wishing harm on people, but sometimes the only way people realize odd things happen is to have them happen to them. I get that reminder a lot when I have idiotic thoughts 😊

Hope you have a speedy recovery and have no long lasting damage.

Well, I agree that this doesn't make him an idiot, but he could have unrelated idiocy.
I get between zero and ten cuts from each knife I make, thankfully usually zero. Sometimes a knife in progress that isn't sharp can have rough or sharp edges and you suddenly notice little cuts from handling. I was shaping a Bowie with a stone and watched my hand overshoot the length and come back with my finger tip on the point. TIP'S SHARP! Clamping a knife in a vise makes it dangerous to walk into.

That's a bad one, glad you'll make a full recovery.

I stabbed my knuckle last year whittling some wood, the whole top of my index finger went numb, feeling started to come back about 8 months later, the scar cream stuff does actually seem to speed healing, use it once swelling has gone down and a hardish scab has started to formed.
judging by your new avatar, I thought maybe you cut your ear off

to the OP; I can relate. Had a very similar instinctive response, brought on by bees. Almost took a finger off

Seems like a lot of right handed folks injure that spot on their lefts
Unfortunately I am left handed. I know I know a natural born sinner in the eyes of most🤣. But that’s why this cut and how it heals could heavily impact my life. I being left hand dominant with potential permanent never damage in my left index finger is quite worrying.

I do hope all heals up well without much to any true issues in a few months time.

Also thank you all for your kind wishes, words, and shared stories❤️ I love this community very much, there’s a lot of special and great people here in the CPK sub and BF in general! I hope everyone has a happy and safe New Years!

How was that ONLY 4 stiches, do you have budget insurance or something? Wow!

My icon was me polishing my Becker BK62.
I was one of the first dozen people or so to get one, in an early release. I was wiping the handle scales down with Danish oil finish. The towel snagged the tip, bringing it into my hand. I Barely touched my hand. I got 7 stiches in two layers. Took a few years before I got all my hand strength back.I

Ethan thought I might of been the first confirmed injury?
Something I "shouldn't" be proud of. ....haha

Funny enough ( not really funny at all) I don’t have health insurance at all. Something I’ve been pushing my company president for since I work directly under him. Really wish I did have a policy in place before this. But something I believe I’ll be getting soon before the next unexpected accident occurs.

But yes the ER doctor was very skilled to say the least. I was also surprised he did such a great job with only 4 sutures. He used a unusual pattern to me. But it proves very effective.

It always amazes me how deeply and swiftly a truly sharp blade can cut with little effort.

I don’t think anyone here thinks it was stupid to reflexively grab a falling object- it happens! I hope you heal up. Some nerves can regrow/attach and it can take a long while if they do.

I cut myself in almost the exact spot a couple of months ago stupidly ‘saving time’ while installing an impeller kit on a snowblower. I was lucky and only slight sensation lost and a few sutures. Another finger that almost got severed taking a knife away from an attacker didn’t have any feeling in the distal portion for almost 2 years.

On a positive note, you picked a grail knife to get cut with! Nobody wants to get run over by a Yugo! Keep your sutures and incision site clean and don’t rush the recovery. Get better!

When I had mine..... And I have company provided "insurance" the total was over 2 thousand dollars..... My insurance, because deductibles and whatnot paid only $18.

I was angry to say the least.

Some time later, maybe close to a year, I get a letter in the mail stating they want their $18 dollars back?

I told my wife to F them! They can't bite me!

......so then more time passses, and then they send statements they are going to do stuff, and then go after my Perfect credit rating!!!
We paid the 18 dollars.
I Hate Them.

I'm still angry all these years later.
Our medical/Insurance industry is ruining people's lives.

I am deeply sorry to hear that all. That angers me as well hearing that.

I love this country deeply. I just wish it didn’t cost an arm or a leg trying to SAVE an arm or leg. I’m not going to get political but I just wish healthcare wasn’t so expensive in the US.

insurance today is a joke.

USA has the MOST EXPENSIVE health care system in the WORLD.

We pay the most out of pocket for services and treatment.

An advanced society should be able to do better.

A falling knife has no handle.
I have, finally, stopped trying to grab them...but I do still put my foot out to break their fall.
I don’t think anyone here thinks it was stupid to reflexively grab a falling object- it happens!
The only time I was ever bitten by a venomous snake was because I reached out to catch a baby temple viper (I had hooked it's sibling, who had tail-wrapped, then released the faller).
