Just popped over to his YT channel. Didn't see the review. But his next-to-last folding knife vid has been deleted. Have no idea if that was the one.

Yes, apparently the video of this has been "removed by the user".
Must be the 400+ dislikes he got for his trouble were too much.............

The reality is that the constraint in production, that is producing fewer knives than would satisfy demand at a reasonable price point, requires a pretty sophisticated marketing strategy. It is achieved by very few knife makers. Rick has developed this (possibly unintentionally by producing a really well-designed and highly sought after product and then mostly restricting the retail product) to a very high level of sophistication. He could have predicted the entry of counterfeits to satisfy demand and the way he's fighting back is also pretty sophisticated. He's now collaborating with KAI on a number of "authentic imitations" that more or less directly undermine the counterfeit market, at a range of price points from the $30 Cryo to the $260 ZT 56x. In fact the ZT 0560/561 sort of foreshadows an upgrade or improvement of the brand. It will be interesting to watch.

BTW, Picasso used to have a policy of signing the work of other artists provided they met a certain high quality standard. Doing that broadened the market for his work and helped starving friends.

Yea, that vid isn't there now.. Hmm.

I'm definitely glad, I think that was a huge mistake for him to even make it. What a toolbag.

LOL! You have to earn it at that price. Go get licensed as an EMT or Volunteer FF! :p

Although I still support him, I'm glad to see the video gone. Didn't bother me much, but it wasn't too tasteful. Wish he'd focus more on backpacking videos ;)

A shame he removed the video. I had gotten a response from Rob Orlando, saying they were flooded with mail about the video. I'd have loved to see them file a claim against the video and have that schmuck get a strike on his account. Then maybe it'll sit a little better in his hollow skull.

Oh well, good that it's down.

I hope next time he goes to Blade or Shot and tries to get an interview with Emerson or Sal or Microtech or whoever, they go him to go screw off. Now that would be a good video!!

Well, it'll be interesting to see if his next video will be an exploration of the ethics of promoting fakes on YouTube....

I would be mildly annoyed, yes. But as long as the counterfeiters weren't actively making me lose money, (and they wouldn't be,) then I see no reason why I would feel anything more.

Oh please! That's just disingenuous.

The video was pulled and we really aren't talking about knives anymore so let's close this one down.

This whole thread is ridiculous. There wasn't this much action on Bladeforums when the American Ambassador to Libya was killed. But show an $18 Chinese knife on Youtube - the same dang one that anybody can find with Google - and everyone proclaims it to be an outrage, puts on their frowny faces and starts doing the pee pee dance.

"Nutnfancy showed a Chinese knife on Youtube! Lets get him!"

Right?

I mean, someone made the comparison between buying a fake knife and committing a Murder in the first page of this nonsense. Some folks here have some kind of monstrously skewed outlook on life...

If the worst thing that's happened to any of you folks all week is that you heard about Nutnfancy doing a review of a knockoff, you are living in a pampered paradise and I'd trade places with you in an instant.
