Nutnfancy makes video supporting fake Chinese XM18

He genuinely has a problem with Rick Hinderer. I could always hear it in his tone when he talks about Hinderer Knives.
He always makes it sound like he has no money, like he can't afford a high end knife, sorta like he wants all knives to be made under $300 no matter what kind of knife it is or the materials used.
I think Rick should just give NutN a free XM-18 to review, maybe he will stop all this non sense.

We should donate. Or you should. ;)

When good makers start to go out of business because of an influx of rip-off merchandise, then you'll realise why this is wrong.

When you can no longer buy online or second hand products for fear they are a rip-off, then you'll realise this is wrong.

You may not like the brand or knife in question but all brands will eventually be affected. You will eventually be affected.

Any one supporting counterfeits or the actions of nutnfancy is truly short sighted.

The more I hear people on this site justifying this, the less I feel like I am in the presence of people who truly love and appreciate knives and good makers.

Busse, becker, strider, fallkniven, SOG, Extrema ratio, Vitorinox, Cold steel businesses have already been affected by this.

Nutnfancy is despicable IMO and any one who buys a knife like this, know you have just contributed to the undermining of men who have worked hard to make this industry and provide us with the blades we love.

Controversy equals views, nutnfancy is in the "view" business.

It's pretty much that simple.

Counterfeit products are a huge problem in this country from handbags to aviation electronic tracking components. Country of origin is not the problem although the majority of products do indeed come from China due to the fact the US outsourced so much of its manufacturing to this country. US companies have also sent advanced machinery to manufacture these products, that is why build quality can be very good.

However when Nuthead has a knife marked with a known makers mark on it, that is a counterfeit knife then he discusses the quality and basically endorses it, he basically is promoting the sale of a counterfeit item. People do in fact get arrested for selling counterfeit products. I personally do not care what knife company's mark is on that knife, if it did not come from that company or permission was given from that company to market it, it is counterfeit.

I also have wonder about this Nut guy trying to get people to rally around him on our fight for the preservation of the second amendment when he tramples on US knife manufactures, got to wonder about moral compass. If these companies were in the US making theses counterfeit knives there would be legal action taken against them. Try selling a NFL jersey or Disney product that is counterfeit in this country.

Les Claypool said it best. "Everything's made in China!!"

That is one of the reasons why there are so many knock offs. They are made in the same factories as the originals.

When he started with the cheap looking knock I was bothered. When he showed the one that was actually stamped Hinderer I got pissed. Whoever sold him that knife committed a crime. I'm tempted to send a link to the FBI

Just a quick aside to those saying it won't impact business. Maybe it won't hit authentic Hinderers or the ZT models, but what about the Cryo, Cryo 2 or Thermite? There's a company paying Mr. Hinderer to get quality, low price designs and I certainly think that could easily be affected by counterfeits of the more expensive midtechs.

Not only that, but what happens when someone buys one of these fakes, thinking it's real, and expects Hinderer to warranty it, then bad mouths him online when he tells them it's not his knife.

Sorry but: BS. No one who is in the market for a high-end knife like an XM-18 will buy the Chinese knock-off instead. Brands like Spyderco and Cold Steel may suffer because many or all of their knives are Chinese-made to begin with (which is how the Chinese learned their business... Another unintended consequence ). But there is simply no overlap between $80 and $500 knives, or their potential buyers. It's like saying Rolex loses customers to counterfeiters making $100 fakes. If you're in the market for the genuine article, you would not be seen dead with a fake. And if you're the type of person who's comfortable with a fake Rolex, you would never ever spend the money it takes to buy the real thing.

Bravo on the bolded part.

One real problem with an influx of counterfeit goods is that once the goods are here there's chance that a customer could end up with a fake. I work with a guy who was all happy because a local music shop sold him a "Les Paul Custom" guitar for $1500. He thought he got a great deal. I knew he got got.

Beyond that the real deal is that counterfeit goods are illegal to sell here. If people have a problem with the law they should lobby to change it, otherwise they are simply committing a crime.

Funny that people are at all surprised by this, when this is the guy who did an entire 2 part 'review' on the Tom Brown Tracker from Tops using magazine photos and pictures from the internet and movie posters. He never even held the knife.

I just want to say hello to Nutnfancy, who is no doubt reading this thread and giggling like a school girl from all of the attention you guys are giving him. Dude!

Wow.

I just went to youtube and watched a bit of the vid.

It takes a special kind of arrogance to "review" anything without ever having held it in hand.

What an idiot.

I really wish someone at Rick Hinderer Knives would file a claim against the video, cite their trademark, and get the video taken down and a strike to his account. At least then, he'd take a notice to it and not just delete some comments.

Who watches this guy? I watched about 3 minutes of one of his vids and knew he was full of it.

I understand the controversy but honestly its not NF's job to police the industry or yours. This goes on. Hell when a dealer could not talk me into making prybars for him at the price he wanted he bought one and had it copied to sell them in his European store the same way. You can't stop it or worry about it. Just keep truckin' forward. Personally I think it would be a good gesture from each of you that bought one of these to figure up 10% of the purchase price and send Rick a commission that he rightfully deserves for his IP (intellectual property) that has been stolen from him. If the Chinese won't make it right it is within your power to do so. Simply write the maker a note telling him you simply can't afford his product and you bought the copy because you wanted the closest thing you could afford to gain the experience. Make it right with God and with Rick and all is well and let China reap their own karma. Anyway that is what I'd do. But what do I know?

I had quite a bit of respect for him. Honestly, folks tend to either love or hate him. I used to like him. Well, until now.

Also lost all respect for him.
Wow...me too. What a Buttf%*k. I never buy Chinese knives anyway. There is just something about the U.S. nostalgia with pocket knives.
