Nutnfancy makes video supporting fake Chinese XM18

Who watches this guy? I watched about 3 minutes of one of his vids and knew he was full of it.

Thats what I've always wondered. He knows very little about knives, so I guess its people that know less than he does???
He may know the specs, but behond that he shows his ignorance.

I wonder how many more fake xm's that this thread has sold. My guess is a bunch. Any publicity given to nutfancy and this video will most diffently sell more of these ripoffs here in the states. I suspect this thread will do more harm then good when it comes to fake rip off knives and nutfancy.

I really wish someone at Rick Hinderer Knives would file a claim against the video

This whole thread is ridiculous. There wasn't this much action on Bladeforums when the American Ambassador to Libya was killed. But show an $18 Chinese knife on Youtube - the same dang one that anybody can find with Google - and everyone proclaims it to be an outrage, puts on their frowny faces and starts doing the pee pee dance.

Let's see. Nutnfancy has 123,000,000+ views, and I'm only personally responsible for about 300,000 of them, so I'm guessing that a few other folks are watching too. Like maybe his 278,000 subscribers. I'll bet you that Rick Hinderer has watched him in the last 24 hours too.

I understand the controversy but honestly its not NF's job to police the industry or yours. This goes on. Hell when a dealer could not talk me into making prybars for him at the price he wanted he bought one and had it copied to sell them in his European store the same way. You can't stop it or worry about it. Just keep truckin' forward. Personally I think it would be a good gesture from each of you that bought one of these to figure up 10% of the purchase price and send Rick a commission that he rightfully deserves for his IP (intellectual property) that has been stolen from him. If the Chinese won't make it right it is within your power to do so. Simply write the maker a note telling him you simply can't afford his product and you bought the copy because you wanted the closest thing you could afford to gain the experience. Make it right with God and with Rick and all is well and let China reap their own karma. Anyway that is what I'd do. But what do I know?

Pretty much. :)

This is the world we live in today, not a lot we can really do about it either at this point.

More like write the maker and tell him you are a veteran (If you are), but not currently active so you can't afford the marked up scalped $700-$800 prices for a $385 knife through the dealers.

Not part of the entitled...... Veteran, but it doesn't matter..... So that's my problem with the Company, all of the Veterans and their service to the Country in the past just don't mean anything. ;)

So I really could care less.....

Anyway copies were bound to happen.

Well, I sent Hinderer knives an email about this, informing them that they can (and should) file a claim against the video. That video violates YouTube's terms of service, and should be taken down. Outrage or not, it should be properly flagged, the video promoting the sale of counterfeits removed, and a strike given to his account.

Well, we have forum for politics, and this isn't it. You can go talk all you want about Libya in another room here. That has nothing to do with knives.

Thats twice you've mention people here doing the pee pee dance. If you find this thread ridiculous maybe you should just stay away from it. It's not worth getting a frowny face over.

PN, with great power comes great responsibility. Yes, lots of views and subscribers. It was a mistake for him to review the fake Hinderer. He could have done a review of the Inron as a knife in it's own right. It bears a resemblance to the XM but it's clearly NOT. He should have just stayed away from acknowledging the Fake Hinderer. In both acknowledging it and praising it he has promoted it to his many viewers and subscribers. That, imo, was a mistake. People make mistakes, doesn't mean they are bad or an idiot or have an ill-purpose. I wish there were more people just asking him to remove the video and replace it with just a review of the Inron. It doesn't even need to be compared to the ZT561.

Many valid points here, especially about the royalty fee Rick should be getting. Let's remember one thing though, Rick can't make enough knives to meet the demand even at the $700 price point. He probably couldn't even at $1200. These forgeries will not affect his ability to make money and you will never get a royalty check out of these thieves anyway so it's pointless to get upset.

Ankerson. You just summed up what I've been trying to say all along. Love you man. ;)
It's not that either one if us can't afford one or two on the secondary market. It's the principles behind it. Some guys on YouTube act like they are knife community elites. Anything said wrong against it is out of line. Within reason, these are the freedoms we all currently fight or fought for. Some guy doing transport in an ambulance that will never use one because he drops and picks up patients all day for appointments.

Either way I have active or reserve friends that tried to get one also and were given a hard time. I don't support buying a Chinese fake, copy or knockoff. Same as dealers and price gouging. (Which causes and drives a lot of the overseas counterfeits) If a veteran or ex Leo wants to by a Chinederer. Go nuts! It should just say that on the knife. "Chinederer." So no one is tricked. I think most people are just upset at Nutnfancy for posting a review that basically PROMOTES the Chinese Hinderer copy to thousands of subscribers and millions of viewers. You're right, no one can stop the Chinese fakes, just don't support them!

Hey everyone this is my first post on here as I'm new to this forum. Regarding the Nutn knock off Vid I completely disagree with any promotion of any replica. It devalues the company that originated the product and put heart and soul into design etc. I liken it to my Rolex watches pertaining to knockoffs and how it hurts the swiss market....will so does the US knife market feel the flux of this crap trickling into the hands of both unsuspecting and knowing knife users. I dont mind things being made in china and therefore marked accordingly on the blade tang but to produce knockoffs and sell them criminally as a US produced Piece is WRONG in every way possible. It proves nothing to know one when you buy one and flash it around hoping buddies think its a 500 - 1000 blade, your only lying to yourself. As for Nutn, after watching his politcal views mixed in with his "philosophy of use" i take what he has to say with a grain of salt and no longer follow him. I don't mind opinions but he comes across like his way is the only way and rather arrogant at times. Cheers everyone !

didn't read all the comments. Am I the first to predict a long, rambling video response by Nut-Nut to all the negative reactions to this stunt?

I think Rick is selling them for less than this isn't he? I paid $385 for the one I got from him when it was new. This may have changed as this was first generation stuff before he really took off to where he is now. The fact is guys we own China 1.2 trillion bucks! Its climbing higher too and even if Rick pursues an international case against them I doubt it would be getting very far before someone made a phone call and it all went away and all Rick would be getting from that would be a bill for his attorney and a headache. If nothing else it will expose Rick's name to a lot of people that otherwise would pass on even looking at the folder or the design just because of the price point. The idea that this is a military knife is rather a laughable when you consider that no military man I know other than officers could afford this thing! Who among the enlisted really buys this other than the single guys in their 20s and 30s? This folder is not for everyone and chances are good that many may even find that they like what they see and actually buy the real deal.

These threads just come up all the time and its not going away. China copies everything they want. This is what happens when you make a deal with the devil and with owing them 1.2 tril we are not in any position to back out of this so look for more clones at a store near you soon. It won't be long before they are the only show in town at the rate we are going as many of the USA companies are about pricing themselves out of the market. Sad but true. I see lots of knives and gadgets I'd like to have but my god! The prices! $149 for a Wedgie ?? $160 for a Taiwan made folder made by a USA company? We are our own worst enemy. We blame everything and anything outside ourselves when this happens but the fact is we set it up so now we as a nation are victims of the law of cause and effect. We ddi this to ourselves.

How is this surprising? He only ever cared about price.

China is cheaper. Period.

If he cared about anything else hed never make a video.

I do not like when people steal other people's ideas but as long as they don't try to sell them as the real thing maybe someone who can't afford one would want one. Personally I would rather save up for a couple months buy the real deal.

I want reimbursement for wasting money on the brand that rhymes with DOG that he so much told was the best value and quality for the price. Really?! I thank all you on here that give honest true opinions. Some may get hurt. Some may sting. Unless anyone of us works for any of these companies. Or gets a kick back. Ah hem. More so for subs/views. If that said reviewer is profiting in any form. We lose.

*the blade play on my, rhymes with DOG, is hilarious. But man it flies out! Grips to my thumb with skateboard tape! Perfect for mall ninja work. Second kind of cool tactical. Unlike my CRK Sebenza. Oooh

Just popped over to his YT channel. Didn't see the review. But his next-to-last folding knife vid has been deleted. Have no idea if that was the one.

He did a good thing reviewing the knock off. Competition breeds greatness and greatness is going out the door here in America as one company eats another that results in less competition. Price gouging is becoming a common theme in these "tactical" products as of late. It's time they get a reality check. With that said, I wouldn't get either as I have a Sebenza, Shadow III and now a new F1 (ordered 5 min ago). Why pay $260 on another folder when I can get a good fixed blade for $120.

Edit: Lol, was watching it, tried to comment, reloaded, video deleted :(

Guess what? XM-18s are STILL $385 (less than a large Sebenza) and waiting time for one is 8-10 weeks. So they're not really hungry for customers.
