Nutnfancy video worth watching

He's probably the reason I actually moved up from budget blades to be completely honest. I don't mind him and I find his reviews actually more informative than half the other crap on utube. To each his own.

I think most of his haters have underlying envy.

Possibly but it's also possible that people just don't like his open support of counterfeit knives, his ignorance of quality production methods and his railing against the prices of high end, well made import prices. Unless of course it's a Microtech, then it all goes out the window.

That was awesome I didn't catch who that was but the dude called nutnfancy out on the jumping lmfao!

Two summers ago I went through his hall of fame list and bought nearly 25-30 knIves from that list.

As far as the "support of counterfeit knives" I assume you're talking about the "Lightning OTF" so I have to ask, do you also consider BladeHQ, BladeOps, and any of the other online retailers out there to be openly supporting counterfeiters?
Like, would you refuse to buy a knife from BladeHQ over it?

I agree he's not the most informed guy in all aspects of everything in the knife world. But he also covers a lot of ground, not just knives. If all he did was knives, I would expect a little more. But he's spread around to all things "tactical".

If you don't take him too seriously, and consider him kinda like a "beginner's guide" to the knife world, he's not so bad.

No, he made a video saying that people should actually buy counterfeit Hinderers and not the real thing, because the counterfeits were a better value. It's been taken down, but there was a thread here on it and I remember watching it, as I know Scurvy does as well.

I think this is the one you're talking about

Lame. Maybe he realized his mistake and took the video down.
But yeah, for whatever reason, he seems to place very high importance on "value", but it's just his own perception.

If you don't wanna feel like you're giving him money by watching his vids, I can understand that.
But I'm pretty interested in both the Bradley Bowie and the Southfork, so I found this video to be interesting, despite the source.

No, he saw his livelihood spiral away as the backlash grew. In fact the backlash is what made him start to do less knife videos.

If he really didn't mean it, he would have made an apology but IIRC all he made some some really snarky comment before he pulled the video.

Gotcha.
But I still enjoyed listening to Gayle talk about his sweet Bowie :)

If there are any other guys out there who went to SHOT and interviewed top makers at length and who AREN'T total boners, I'm willing to watch those videos too :p

DUUUUUUDES! What's all the hate for? Watch the video for the guests, not the host;)

It was actually really cool seeing all the designers around the same table like that. If only nutn didn't keep cutting them off every few minutes to interject his opinions.

I swear Phil Wilson was on the verge of rolling his eyes on at least a few occasions:D:rolleyes:

None of my EDC folders would pass his muster. All my primary carries are at least 8 ozs.

Yeah, sounds like you two have different taste in knives, which is fine.

When I was first getting into knives as a hobby, I found his videos helpful and informative.
Now that I've been into it for years and I have a better idea of what I like in a knife, his videos and opinions are less helpful to me.

But I can't just completely write off all the guy has done for the "community" and the hobby just because I find his personality to be lacking.

I have enjoyed reading the comments here. Nutnfancy is a character and I have nothing against him. I don't agree with his commentary all the time but I do prefer his videos to many of the other guys doing them.

I try to keep my knife reviews under 10 minutes, the goal being closer to 5... we as a society are shortening our attention span every day ;)

Eh, I've watched a few of his vids in my time. Dude is full of himself, no doubt.

The more I got into this hobby, the less I clicked on his vids.

i think his reviews are way to subjective but then again what reviews arent? however when i make that statement i mean more so he he treats his review more like a discussion / rant, and often tangents off from the point. he does have some interesting opinions and as long as you are takes what he says with a grain of salt and watch other people review i think it can be worth watching.

although some of his videos can be very long and i tend to stay off of those, and videos of less controversial topic.

There are several reviewers out there that do videos that are to the point, stick to the facts, do their research, and otherwise do a good job of doing a review, several of them post on these forums.
