Nutnfancy

I think he puts out some of the better vid reviews on knives and tactical gear. I was just watching his Fenix L1D review last night (I already have one) and I was in agreement with all of his comments. He seems to speak from experience, and is coherent and somewhat entertaining. If I am looking for info to support a new knife purchase I will try to find a Nutnfancy video before reviewing the others.

I have seen some real doozies from others in the way of knife and gear reviews - they ought to banish some of them.

Just because you own a knife, a video camera nad a computer does NOT make you an expert!!

I just want to know what nutnfancys MOS is/was also the dude REALLY needs to get laid if you watched his rat cutlery reviewit was almost hard for me to watch...poor guy.

I give the Nut credit for putting him self and his opinions out there. By doing so, he leaves himself open to ridicule. For example, he has one where he shows a cut that he received while reaching for a knife in his fanny pack. Not many people would admit to wearing one of those!

But then you realise that he can be entertaining and informative for 10 minutes talking about one knife, something that is hard to do for most people.

He has a philosophy about what a good knife is, as everyone does. A big thing with him is weight. Anything over 4 oz is too heavy, but if you don't share that opinion, just disregard that aspect of his review.

I very much enjoy his videos. I don't always agree with his view points but my "P.O.U" (to borrow his phrase) is different and I don't usually have to worry about the weight. He is very entertaining and informative and it shows how much work, time and effort he puts into his project.

I actually have the Lone Wolf Harsey Ranger and I like it alot. It holds a really good edge and locks up tight. For it's size I was surprised how light it was. It also flips out smooth as butter. The only ding I give it is it's pocket clip. It is deticated tip down, right handed carry. Being left handed I made a leather belt sheath for it and carry it that way. Be warned though it does have a blade that is longer then 4" so your local laws might not like it.

I like Nuttinfancy a LOT.

He was one of the major influences that steared me straight.

I love his concept of P.O.U.
His isn't the same as mine, but simply the idea of having one was useful for me, it's helped me find and buy more satifactory blades.

My only real complaint with him is that he needs to work from a script a bit more sometimes, or edit down some of his videos.

He's enthusiastic enough I have no problem listening him to chat about a knife for 10 minutes...but some of his longer reviews and video series are mind numbing; repetetive and disorganized.

Like several others have mentioned I also subscribe to cutlerylover

I think he does a pretty good job really, his videos are always entertaining and he has Military and LE back grounds so he does have a clue what he is talking about. It's all good.

I subscribe to his channel and enjoy his videos for the most part. As others have mentioned, even if you don't like the guy, you have to respect the time and effort he puts into each and every video.

My only complaint is that he has let his "fame" go to his head... and it's getting worse. When I began watching him middle of last year, occasionally he would remark that he was aware that it might become a problem but hoped it wouldn't. These days, it can be hard to find a video where he doesn't mention something about how, because of his plugs, something is going to sell out online lickidy split.

I doubt stuff will sell out just because he does a video. LOL

It doesn't, but he likes to think it does I guess.

I actually went to Gallery of Guns last night to check out that limited edition 870 he recently did a video on. The "available" number hadn't changed from what it was in the video. Then again, that number was 99, which might be indicative of a "99+" aka "once we can see the horizon behind them, then maybe we'll start counting."

...but there are multiple instances in this tread alone of people saying they purchased something because of his reviews.

If you watch both Cutlerylover and Knivesandstuff, you can see the effect over there too. After Jeff did a video on Kyley's semi-custom, Kyley got enough of an influx in requests that it warranted making a video to address possible delays for some.

I think that might be another reason why I favor a lot of the other reviewers on YouTube over Nutnfancy. They are all real people with real jobs with real lives. With Nutnfancy, all you get is secrecy. I don't blame him, mind you, but it certainly effects the feel of his videos.

One thing I thought was funny is when he did the review on the Cold Steel Natchez Bowie, the review was really spot on, I know because I have one, but when he stated something about pounding a $350 knife through wood and he wouldn't do it. Also about how heavy it was... Yeah right, it's pretty darn light compared to what I am used to packing around.

Ahhh, well I chop up stuff with my Busse FBMCG and it cost one heck of a lot more than $350 I can tell you. (You could almost buy 3 of them for what the Busse costs)

But yeah my Natchez Bowie is a safe queen, but that's what I bought it for.

I appreciate that he takes time to make the vids and offers his "data point" on the subject. Let's not forget that it is one man's opinion. I shudder when folks say they buy stuff just based on his review. I hope folks still do some research and search out other opinions.

It's nice to see a blade close up, have it opened and closed, and see it in someone's hand to get a sense of proportion on the blade and handle.

I wish his vids were shorter like in the beginning. I don't need a 5 min ramble on philosophy of use or watch him page thru a catalog.

I only own a 12 ga pump shotgun for home defense, so the gun stuff doesn't interest me. The shooting vids with his buds don't interest me either.

One day he is gonna DuraCoat his dog.

I was wondering how many people here watch nutnfancys reviews on youtube. I spend some time watching the videos and now I want the Lone Wolf Harsey Ranger as a result. It looks like it's built like a tank, and it has a 5" blade.

I have bought many knives based on his reviews, I know alot of guy's don't like him but i kinda like his can't be bought attitude when it comes to knives, Think i am gonna get a new CRKT folder based solely on his review:D Oh my wife hates him by the way, He spends more of my money than she does.

I never thought I'd be interested in knives, but after watching nutn's youtube vids, I now have a Spyderco Para, Delica, SOG pup elite, Fallkniven F1, a Boker folder, and I', scared that the list is growing.... ha ha.

Nutn's reviews rock.

NutnFancy is solely responsible for my knife habit and I consider him the worst kind of pusher of an addiction. My credit cards bare the marks of my abuse and I see no cure in the future.

Actually, he does some of the best reviews online and I find him entertaining. I've killed much time on the PC watching his vids.

I watch and like the Nutnfancy vids. They are informational and entertaining. I bought the FNP 9 after watching his vid..Went to the range. shot it. Its a good pistol. . It goes bang everytime I pull the trigger.
