Nyala Has Landed ............

I am anxious to see how the steel performs over time. My guess is that it will surprise us with its performance.

I haven't done much with mine, but I do have an S35VN Mule and although I haven't torture-tested it, I really am liking how it cuts and how it sharpens. I have all six Mules and this one is actually my favorite, so I'm not taking a bet against you. :D

Thanks to everyone who posted for there kind & friendly comments

Isn't the blade A2 steel on the Mountaineer 1 of better quality?

Better for what? You need to define what you want in a blade. The short answer is, for most uses and most users, no, it's not better, though it is different.

I'm glad you compared your Mountaineer 1 to the Nyala. I ordered a Mountaineer 1 a few months ago (last ones in production) and I should be receiving it in a few weeks. I can still cancel the order a put in an order for the Nyala. I don't have the luxury to hold them or even own both.
If you had to choose one, which would it be? I like the handle of the Nyala, but I also heard and read great things about the Mountaineer 1's blade cutting and sharpness retention ability. The handle comfort didn't get great reviews though.
I know they are both great knives, and for my first fixed blade I trust Chris Reeves. I also looked at Busse, but found their blades too thick for a 4 to 5 inch fixed knife. For a larger knife, Busse would be my first choice.
I plan to use the knife for an everyday carry and as a utility knife along with using it on my fishing trip to cut bait, gut fish and cut branches for firewood.
I appreciate any suggestions now that you own two great looking knifes.

Honestly, I am not being cute, unless I had to stab things, I would pick the Nyala every time. Even if you are allergic to stainless, I'd suggest giving it a try. Send me an email to newellj at gmail dot com and I will give you a little further info for your thinking.

I will say, however, that my Mountaineer 1 is not for sale, and either knife will give you a lifetime of satisfaction and pleasure and still be in use by your grandchildren.

I just bought this knife a few weeks ago. I gotta tell you the Chris Reeve crew scored a serious home run with this knife. This knife is amazing. I really love this knife. Perfect for EDC and tough enough for all kinds of light duty work. Not to mention I love the sheath design. Easy to pull the knife out. I am so impressed with this knife, that I plan to actually get another one. Buy one, you won't regret it.
