Oeser Knives...

Keep us posted, Stu. If it doesn't turn up I'm sure there must be something I have here that I could send your way to make the pain less palpable.

Thank you Elliott, but that won't be necessary.

The knife has reappeared!!

I'm sitting on the couch, watching the Braves struggle with the Nats yet again, and browsing the Ken Erickson thread when I hear a clunk from the La-Z-Boy when my wife kicks the footrest out.
We flip the chair over and there it lays. It was beautiful I tell ya, brought a tear to my eye.

I am not exaggerating when I say I had that chair upside down, on it's side, opened, closed, every which way hoping to find it yesterday. I would have bet the rent it wasn't in that chair (or anywhere else in the house for that matter) but thank goodness I was wrong. Who knows what else might be in there, it's like a 4th dimension or something.

Can't wait to put it back where it belongs tomorrow. In my pocket!

Wow, Jared, I just read the whole thread.
Your work is inspiring as always.

I feel your pain. I "lost" a knife by Bret Dowell while on staying at my father-in-law's summer house on Chesapeake Bay. After we drove drove home, I realized it was gone and freaked out. We tore the car apart....the luggage...had my in laws on their hands and knees looking under beds trying to find this knife.....nothing. I was sick....called Bret and he said he'd make me another one no problem. Fast forward 2 weeks when one of my 16 year old sons reaches in one of the pockets of a jacket and pulls out the knife. It turns out my wife used the knife which was on the nightstand and handed the knife to him to hold while she finished what she was doing. He stuck it in his pocket without thinking.

I'm glad you found your knife.....it seems silly to form such strong attractions to inanimate objects but here we are just the same. :p

Great news, Stu!!! (I guess the knife just didn't want to face the humiliation of being replaced and thought better of hiding out.)

Jason, I was thinking of you when I made this one. The keystone just fit, ya know. ;)

With a keystone shield.....you're killing me.

Thanks Mark, I know a guy who makes some killer shields.

Nice knife and shield Jarad

Stu, that's great news. I wonder if I start turning over chairs if I'll be able to find my wife's wedding ring.

Thank you Elliott, but that won't be necessary.

Great to hear your knife has been found Stu. I don't know what it is about recliners but I swear once something falls in there it can be hidden such that Indiana Jones wouldn't find it on his best day. Good thing it didn't somehow get crunched by the mechanism.

Jared, some REALLY REALLY nice work in this thread. Congrats, you've definitely mastered your craft!

Stu, that's great news! What a thriller...
After such an experience we appreciate our knives even more :)

Stu.
I hadn't posted about your trouble before, but I thought about it, and I also guessed (and hoped) that it would reappear somewhere somewhen...and I'm glad you have the knife back in your hands. Oh, and great gesture by Elliott: threatening a knife to substitute it does work pretty often :p

I'm sure glad it showed up, I can't stand the thought of selling any of my knives much less losing one!
BTW, I lost a flashlight in a recliner not long ago. Same story, I looked inside the chair more than once and didn't find it.

Big picture, it's just a knife. But then again there isn't much I like better than a fine pocket knife.

Great news, Stu!!! (I guess the knife just didn't want to face the humiliation of being replaced and thought better of hiding out.)

You might be right, and I really appreciate the gesture. I'm glad it worked though :D

You never know. I hope you do, that is one of the few things I would rate above an Oeser knife on things I never want to lose.

I was worried about it getting pinched or crushed so I (thought I had :o) really made sure it wasn't in there the day before.

Thanks Fausto, Elliott is definitely one of the good guys!

I have had things get swallowed by that chair, but always deposited right out the bottom after a little, or allot, of shaking. I think I know where it got hung up though, and will know how to check it should there be a next time.

Now back to the knives,

Let me add my praise for this Coffin Jack, Brilliant piece of work!
Just stunning.

Thanks Stu and everyone for the kind comments. The coffin jack was a lot of fun.

BTW, if your trapper incurred any damage you can always send it in for a fluff and buff.

Yeah!

I was feeling sick for you!

I have lost my Oeser gunstock a time or two!

Easy chairs and couches seem to want my knives!

Glad you found it Stu!

Jared, that coffin jack is amazing. There must be 6 or 7 different colorations in those covers, and I like the aggressiveness of the jigging near the base and how it lightens up near the bolster.

Nice job on the coffin jack Jarred.
Glad you found your knife Stu. I've been there and still looking for one of my favorites. Still hoping it will show up some day.
