off the busse subject

I don't have any of CRK's fixed blades but I have about 20 folders. Lg and sm Sebenzas, and a few Umnumzaans. The fit and finish is impeccable. They're smooth and you can tell their high quality.
Lately all I've been using are Busse fixed blades and CRK folders. Well, also a SRKW Rat Trap thrown into duty here and there. :)

It depends on what YOU want in a knife...

I owned a small sebenza insingo, large sebenza 21 and mnandi. They were beautiful, top quality and equally a pleasure to use and look at...

With that said, I have sold them all - I just didnt need THAT much knife in a small folder role and I don't collect knives as show pieces. My Delicas always seemed to make their way into my pocket and I never have to worry about losing or breaking them bc at $50 a pop, who cares. I actually have never even broken a Delica (I have lost a few).

Its similar in the way that even though I own 10+ Busses and love using them, I wind up using my esee3mil the most of all by far...

So it really comes down to what you want in a knife - Chris Reeve folders are amazing, but the premium I paid for them just never really seemed worth it to ME when my Delicas worked as well... Its is all personal opinion. If you have the cash, I say give them a try - they are amazing.

YES ,,, the folders are like a fine watch,, Very hard to put down :thumbup:

Some of them are pretty expensive, but they are very collectible. If you are going to get a fold, I'd say wait for the Busse Folder, I don't think you can go wrong. Jerry did bring a working Proto to Blade but I'm sure they are just in the final stages before making it. Well, I hope so anyway.... =)

I agree with you on the Delica. I carried one for over 12 yrs and never broke it. Luckily I never lost it either. Had I never bought a Sebenza I certainly wouldn't consider myself unprepared for work with a Delica. They actually fit my hand better than the Sebbies do. But I do enjoy carrying a Sebenza so I haven't sold any. Although I do see the Delica working it's way back into my pocket. I only started buying CRK this year so it's the "new" toy thing right now. :)

Every knife enthusiast should own (if not necessarily keep) an example of the One-Piece line. They are iconic.

Definitely Iconic, but I had to let mine go. I had the Tanto 9 inch one piece. I think it would have been quite uncomfortable to use, and I wanted to put the cash into the Busse pool, so I let her go. I have yet to purchase any CRK folders, but do desperately want to get the Wilson Star Tac Umnumzaan. I hope some cash frees up before they become scarce. I think I'd also like a large Sebbie Insingo, and eventually someday, a Damascus Sebbie with some Art on the handle. I am thinking based on how much I like Microtech's folders, that I will feel the same or stronger about CRK folders once I have them.

The Busse Folder... been talked about forever. I see it becoming am XM18 type situation. Everyone wants one but the manufacture can not keep up. If the Busse folder sells for 400 I foresee it going for 800 2nd hand. People will be trying to snatch them up to flip and it will be out of most peoples reach.

i might just have to invest in a sebenza , but once i get around the $500 mark,i just want more bad a** busse's, what do you think LionSteel sr-1 or large sebenza? around the same price? .thanks for the info fellas!

It could be worse than XM18's. Jerry will more than likely only release them for a short period of time. After that, good luck getting one.

It has the potential to be better than a money printer. That's one thing that is certain.

I have to disagree with you all on the folder, it's been a long time going and I don't think they will be gone all that fast. There is a lot of time and research into it, and Jerry usually allows enough about of time for most to buy. Even the MUK LE or the KZ II LE, there was over a week that you could order it. And even if he stops making it, I believe he will just change the blade shape and bring it back out, too many people want it.

I picked up a Lion Steel SR-1Al at Blade. D2 blade and aluminum frame, it's cheaper than titanium and feels great. Plus they're only $240-$280.

Personally, I've never picked up a Sebenza that I liked, they were always "boxy" and didn't feel good.

BUT... everyone's hand is different. You just got to hold a lot of folders and decide which fits you better. Kind of like a fixed blade, it fits everyone a bit different.

have you used any of them to base this on?

M67, what are your impressions of crk fixed blades? I think you have(had) a green beret?

I handled both version of the LionSteel SR and as much as I like Titanium handles, I preferred the Aluminum version because it was so much lighter - so would have chosen the same as you, regardless of price. I did not pick one up though. Nice knife but just too big for me.

When I bought my first Sebenza I was underwhelmed. Then I bought a few other folders, often multiples of the same model and there was always a slight variance in each one. Then I bought another Sebenza and it was exactly like the first one, then another, exactly the same, then another and so forth. Whether you like them or not, the one thing I like is to get exactly what I am expecting. Nothing does that for me in folders like CRK.

I have yet to find one with a flaw.
