Mods, move it if you must, but since i am more interested in the opinions of Hogs than others, i figured i'd post this

The shooting is tragic, but while reading the story, i noticed this little snippet.
Holmes was apprehended within minutes of the 12:39 a.m. shooting at his car behind the theater, where police found him in full riot gear and carrying three weapons, including a AR-15 assault rifle, which can hold upwards of 100 rounds, a Remington 12 gauge shot gun, and a .40 Glock handgun. A fourth handgun was found in the vehicle. Agents from the federal bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms are tracing the weapons.

Does this strike anyone else as media anti-gun BS? Standard AR mags are 30 rounds... you CAN get 100 round mags, but there's no such thing as an AR mag over 100 rounds...

WHY do they take a story that's already bad enough and add sensational nonsense!

"Upwards of" is the same as saying up to.

It's a little early to be picking apart the media coverage on this tragedy. Regardless of how it's reported, this is a terrible event done by a sick individual...

Ratings, BP, nothing but ratings. And perhaps to fulfill an agenda too, but ultimately it's about nothing more than ratings.

I'm still waiting to see if any of these weapons can be connected to operation Fast & Furious.

Because they want to advance their agenda: total disarmament of the law abiding citizens; it happens also with knives (as probably you know). It is the same here in my country;
once they achieve that, they can rule any way they want.

I'm not allowed to carry a knife with a blade over 5"... because a 4.5" blade is not lethal, but a 5.5" blade is something only a murderer needs

Sigh... if liberals weren't so retarded on my gun (and related) rights, i might be more on their side. I don't care who a person marries, and some of their platforms are just fine, but their real goal is to turn people into more sheeple... i just won't have it.

OK, folks... Let's stop the speculation. Many dead and injured and all you have is the media wanting to advance their agenda and the Fast & Furious operation???

How about what kind of sick person shoots 71 people, killing 12 in a movie theater???

"Upwards of something" does mean "more than something." Could be that the author is using it incorrectly. I don't see the point of specifying that in the story anyway. And the grammar is wrong ("a AR-15"). I'd read something else.

Watch the politics, please. Not here with that.

there's no arguing that... he was clearly deranged if not fully psychotic. In texas, we know how to deal with them

My bad, looked it up to be sure, and I'm thinking the writer made the same mistake. It does mean "in excess" of.

None of this really matters, I think we should worry about the famlies bofore the political crap starts to fly ( it's just too soon in my opinion ).
There is plenty of time ( the rest of our lives ) to worry and fight about that.

Our prayers go out to those that were shot or injured in this situation.
Sad news.

No worries! Full disclosure here, I also had to look it up to make sure :p
Prayers to the victims' families. Some folks just wanted to see a movie and have a good time.

I get Philly stations here...Gotta say that they (6abc) have been trying to stick to facts and haven't done much speculating so far...which is appreciated, considering how bad this situation is. Wait until the cops get into the suspect's home. Looks like more badness there.

oh i hadn't thought of that... there's no telling what he did BEFORE the shooting. I hope if parents/friends/family are okay...

Not sure if that is the case, but apparently, the police are having trouble getting in. Booby traps or something... Very little info on this so far.

I think the kind of person that wanted to live through it ,I don't get why he told LEO about the booby traps at his apartment .

Just tragic. I wish that 71 year old man from the internet cafe video was there with his CHL, or any other law abiding citizen with a legally concealed handgun. This might have ended very differently and with much less loss of life.

Still, how does a guy conceal a AR-15 a Shotgun and two Glocks and sneak them into a movie theater? That is unbelievable.

The media does what the media does. It's one of the reasons that media distrust is at an all time high in this country.

.

My heart goes out to the victims and their families.
