Ok, that tip on using old bottles for 22lr ammo is cool. I've dumped so many boxes of value pack ammo, and never thought of putting them in something else.

Those Condors look like they might just fit the bill. Thanks ST.

Sent you a link to a little USA made double bit belt axe. Guyon sent it to me.

I was in Fall Fart today and couldn't resist another couple of 550 value packs. Ammo's only going to go up.
I may start geocaching these in strategic locales so I'll have an exit route when the zombie hoards invade.

That really is a good idea for ammo storage. I've got some old BPA Nalgenes around here somewhere. If I didn't have BPA poisoning I could remember where they are.

Thank God I tied a string to mine and attached it to my leg as soon as I heard the BPA scandal. Sort of a hassle, but it finally paid off.

All kinds of badass.

i've got the long and the short. like these knives a lot :>

i bet a few Beckerheads will be looking into these soon. quality knife :D

That's a GREAT use of a BPA bottle. I've got a couple of the smaller wide-mouth ones that would work nicely for that too.

it's definitely a good way to store them in damp environments/etc. glad i thought of it ;) since i'm a hoarder, i just couldn't THROW those bottles out. then it occurred to me: mmm, put SOMETHING else in there. like what?

1) my lifetime supply of mineral oil for coating knives and stuff - the old WHITE bottle polyurethane are basically just lab bottles. works a treat. hasn't leaked in 4+ years, unlike the original bottle ;P

2) various plant foods pellets and stuff i needed to keep dry.

3) oh, hey GUN CANDY. i have crush proof, easy pour GUN CANDY bottles now. oh hey, WalFart also sells otter box clones (in different colors). same ones that Dick's has, but about HALF the price. polycarbonate. watertight from what i can tell. useful for whole box larger ammo, or dump it in loose.

so currently, i've got the otter box clone flip lid for the auto-match, which easily distinguishes it from bulk 550 for plinking in a wide-mouth nalgene. got 9mm and .40 store in bottles as well.

fairly soon, i'll be getting more otter box clone flip lids to store the loose bulk 7.62x39, and 7.62x54 - esp nice as the boxes DO NOT CRUSH and keep your ammo tidy.

tip: stuff a plastic bag into the top as needed to keep the rattle down, don't want to beat the stuff up, eh? don't use cloth, it usually holds moisture. if you're extra worried, for LONG term storage, definitely put some desiccant packet in there. might not hurt to also apply a THIN bead of silicone inside the lid. just a thought.

still hunting around for a good screw small bottle to hold .22LR for a BOB. i've a few of those "cold eze" capsules that work okay (and they have built in desiccant in the lid (would have to bake it to make sure it's active), but they are not screw on, and i'm not sure they are 100% neutral - those gummy fishing lure baits will melt into a lot of plastics (open chain molecules suck ;)

yeah what's up with that?? I've had the exact experience I always thought a little just dribbled down the bottle, so I started wiping it and would still have a ring on the table after a while....

I don't care much for the ammo bottles I'd rather have my ammo where I can stick my grubby hands in and grab a gob..

Okay, you guys up for an ammo war?? I say we start a thread posting mounds of ammo, I encourage this because I have built my own personal bunker walls out of ammo:p

I may have to gather it together and snap some pics to get the ball rolling if no one else does...;)

Federal is pretty decent, CCI Blazer is the good stuff........

i use federal auto-match 40 grain .22LR thus far in the high standard target pistol - very nice, and get about 1 MOA at 100M with it in a 22 inch barreled savage bolt gun.

would probably have to spend LOTS more to find something that works better, fortunately, it's cheap enough, and i clean out my local 'fart when i can.

Whats scope you using Bladite?

older version of this: http://www.rapidreticle.com/Main/ScopeItem.aspx?ID=5&grpID=5

it's verah nice.

the funny story of the scope: i zero'd for 50 yards and could pick off M&Ms with fair ease.

moved to the marked "100" lane. shot several. grouped well, but 6-8 low. mmm. few more groupings. consisten. back to 50. shave mosquitoes. back to 100.

guy asks me "scope losing zero", so i tell him about he magic scope lines and how they are calibrated for .22LR specifically... (they do .17 HMR, .223, .308 too)

22-1-Reticle.jpg

and how i just have to move to the 100 yard line, and should be NEAR to zero, if not right on.

"oh, this is 100 METERS, over there is 25 and 50 yards, yeah, don't ask me, try 110 yards on your scope"

bang. bullseye. bang. bullseye. bang. bullseye.

next on my toy list: a good laser raser ranger to 600 yds at least ;) can't trust the damned markings. *THOUGH* with a scope like that, if the groups are consistent, you can use the SCOPE to range find ;) when you bullseye, that's your range ;)

heh

I can't believe more people aren't raving about them. I wana get the large one since the small is a tiny bit short for my hand(and I really want green :)

the Federal Auto Match is *excellent* in a High Standard. As is the RWS Target, but the prices went way up. The Federal Auto Match is my go-to for target pistols. It's good in a long gun too, but.. I can get the high-vel Federal to shoot quite well, and the CCI Velocitor's EASILY shoot 1MOA at an honest 1400+FPS with a full 40gr bullet. For hunting, of course. too spendy otherwise.

Blazers 40 grain, I get about a 3MOA on my reddot scope at 100yards.
1MOA at 50.

My Ruger 10/22 is zeroed at 70 yards for hunting.
if I shoot a 20 yard target it will hit a 70 yard target in the same spot.....crazy how Ballistics work

With my Federal ammo, I get 1MOAN at about 75 yards. And bloodsplatter too. Sometimes a shriek.
