Dang, I just got off the phone with the BFC Pension Corp. There was a mix-up, and it looks like I've got to hit at least 35K before I can hang up my biscuit pans.

Just shopped for a simple 2" Condor nylon shoulder strap.
Shipping quotes were $11.40, $13.95, and $21.35.
For two straps at $4 each.
Finally found an Airsoft place that only charged me $5.35 shipping.

I recently got a knife that both tradewater and flexxx and probably a few others own, it has G10 scales. Right out of the box, they had a certain stickyness to them, it's not really uncomfortable, but I notice it. Is this to be expected with G10 or will it go away with use? I have washed it several times with warm water and soap.

Meat, I am glad (in a way) to hear this. I thought I'd gotten something on mine. I've washed it in everything from windex with ammonia to alcohol. Still gets sticky. Get's really grimy when you use it much. I just gave up on trying to clean it. Have you posted this question in the other forum (which shall remain nameless)? I'd be interested to hear what the solution is. Mine is orange by the way.

If there is anyone in the southern Alabama/Western Georgia/Northern Florida area, the Westborough Baptist Church is coming to picket the funeral of fallen Marine Lance Cpl. Jason Barfield. I am going to help surround the cemetery to allow the family to bury their Hero in peace. If any of you guys are in the area, the funeral is Saturday, Nov 5. in Ashford, Alabama. PM me for more info.

I'm not in the area, but I'm checking some of my friends that are, to see what they have going on. Sucks that some folks would do that.

Where does Jerry Fisk sell his knives? His website seems to be from 2007? Probably can't afford em but still.....pm me

Are there G10 scales for the knife that shall not be named in other colors besides orange?

I haven't asked on the forum you mention, but I figured I probably should. It's not like it really bothers me, but I'm starting to think about swapping the scales for the grey micarta ones. I have a Martin Swinkels kydex sheath coming, I really like the knife, except for the sticky scales!

I think some grime is a given on blaze orange knife scales, but I wanted to have something that can be just rinsed off and doesn't act as a habitat for bacteria, as this knife will definitely serve some time in the kitchen!

$2500 for his Military version. Or you could just email him and ask.

I checked it out but it says something along the lines of "check out what's coming in 2007" so I figures it was a little outdated :D. I was mainly interested in his production prototype he had on there. Wonder if that just never got off the ground. Looks like a useful blade and the price tag is a lot easier to swallow then his custom stuff

Nice song.

tradewater, they say it will go away with use, one says to rub some dirt on it, one suggests the use of "goof of". Dunno what that is, and I seriously doubt that I'll get it here in Germany, but I'll try a few things and report back when I get something done.

That military was listed on OCT 23, 2011.

Hell, just ask him, or email him. He's on here just about everyday.

Shoot someone else in the foot Meat.

I believe the primary ingredient in Goof Off is xylene, but I could be mistaken. I would suggest to try a couple of things. First, if you do not have access to goof off or xylene type products, try lighter fluid. I find that removes the residue from price tags and other stuff very nicely. If that does not work, try nail polish remover. If it looks like nail polish remover is working only partially, you might try some full strength acetone. And finally, if none of that works, it would stand to reason that some light sanding would remove the layer of the handles upon which the stickiness has taken hold. Perhaps that might work?

Either way, good luck.

Edited to add: You should also smite your enemies of course. Silly I didn't think of that first.

I've gotten the sticky feel completely off of it before, come back a few days later......sticky. It's almost like something is leaching out of the G 10. Odd thing, I tell ya. Real odd.

G10 is fiberglass and epoxy resin, right? I'd like to avoid melting my scales, so I'll have to choose stuff that epoxy is immune to. We have some very nice cleaners at work, I think I'll try some of those.

If your G10 is getting sticky, something isn't right. I've handled G10 quite a bit, and dry as a popcorn fart comes to mind.

It sounds like the epoxy compound might have gotten out of proportions, or something, because once that stuff is setup, its pretty much there, just short of phosphoric acid. Just sayin'.

Well, I posted it on the forum that shall not be named, if it's a problem with the G10 I'm sure Jeff will take care of me.

Edit, it seems to be a common problem with the G10 scales. Some people use Goof Off, some people just get the knife dirty.

I appreciate that, Moose. My wife and I will be there most likely with half of Fort Rucker.

I think the people from Westborough Baptist are going to be very confused when they die and arrive in the very special level of hell that's reserved for that kind of person.
