This is a bad day for injuries. I just opened a huge gash on my finger with my new Fiskars hatchet. It didn't bleed, but the pain is unbearable. I don't know if I'll ever play the violin again.

it's probably the poison they coat the blades with to keep them from rusting. better suck it out.

So with TAG posting up pix of the bell he got with his 10, and mentioning the rust that was under the scales, that got me thinking. I ordered an extra one for my son to have when I think he is ready to have sharp pointys. His 10 is still in the shipping box entirely unopened. Should I open it up, take the scales off, coat the blade in mineral oil, and stick it in a ziplock bag to help protect it against the ever dreadful red rust?

go all out, clean it, paint it with clear acrylic a few coats, and voila...

hell, go for orange... that way it's got a cool orange handle stripe. then put on liners in a contrasting color :>

or wax. dip the whole thing in paraffin :>

give it a coat of rig gun grease -- that stuff is almost as good as cosmoline, but it doesn't petrify over time.

No Fiskars love for me at small fart.
Trade, if they have more than the couple extra you want, grab me one.
I can get it whenever y'all come down this way.

They had plenty of Fiskars stuff, but no hatchets. I checked camping too. Only hatchet there was a Chinese-made Coleman.
