jarod - good to hear, best of luck on continued healing for both of them.

Moose - you have my sympathy -- we got 1/2" or so of rain Wednesday, none of it made it to my pond, which is running about 5' LOW. I was cleaning up the inside of the banks with the tractor and moving dirt back to the top of the dam this afternoon.

God Bless her, I hope they both make a speedy recovery..... So I take it there was swelling in the brain, thus the reason for the induced coma...

none of it made it to my pond, which is running about 5' LOW. .

speaking of running low, there was a pond in a local park in Tulsa where a lady was walking her lab, the dog jumps in the pond and retrieves a shoe with foot inside:eek:, LE decide to drain the pond after further investigations of the foot..

they found a ford expedition in the pond with a body inside which they believe is a mother that's been missing since 2006!!

went to 3 different 'warts today. no hatchets or garden tools.

did find the x25 splitter i think it is... wasn't on clearance, but it's a nice intermediate spitting axe betwixt the regular splitting axe of old, and the SUPER splitting axe.

it's these splitters, than make me yawn about batoning... one strike splits of huge logs? that's what we're talking about.

last season, i was busting 12-14 inch logs in twain with one blow. they explode off the block. nice.

seasoned oak? yup. knots? annoying, but they get through. learned a few trick about chopping and geometry and flat chopping over the last few goes, works nice.

batoning? it's like scraping a battleship with a toothbrush. sure, it works, and if all you have is the toothbrush, sure, and you HAVE to, sure... hah.

Praise Jabba, my trail hawk is done. Now it's either mesquite phat bob scales or a custom handle for the warthog. Decisions, decisions.

I was at 1 of the 3 small farts today. They didn't have any either.

Tradewater, connoisseur of small farts.

My cousin is being discharged today, shes in alot of pain. She still doesnt remember her daughter being with her. Abby, the daughter, is in a drug induced coma, she has gone through i think 3 surgeries. She will have alot of scars and will spend a month or two in a wheelchair, but it looks like she will make it. They tested her ability to follow simple instructions and she did well, o her brain should be fine. Thank you guys for your thoughts and prayers.

While hard to endure, this latest development seems like good news to me. I'll keep these two in my thoughts and prayers.

I've got one of the plastic handled versions I bought at Lowe's. Works well.

Most recently found a downed pine that looked pretty crusty. Cracked into it with one of my knives and the entire thing was fatwood. Prior to that, chopped into another downed pine, looked like it had been knocked down during a storm. First cut didn't reveal anything, but towards the center of the tree there was a huge vein of fatwood.

So a lot of you know that I bought a Work Sharp.

Well this weekend it started screaming like a banshee, so I tinkered with it attempting to stop the squealing and I broke the cartridge.
I called Dereks and told them as much, letting them know that I was pretty sure that I had broken it in an attempt to stop the screaming.
They asked me a few questions and then said " Hey I will be happy to send you a new cartridge no charge it will go in the mail today. "
I called them on Sunday, they called me Monday before lunch, and are sending me the replacement same day.....
Oh and they told me that if anyone else I know wants one, you can actually get it cheaper than on their site through a company that rhymes with Horthern Cupply cheaper than Dereks sells them for ..lol
Does customer service get much better ?

Does anyone have any experience with Samick recurve bows? I'm probably gonna buy one friday, I heard good things about them. Supposed to be good beginner's bows. What draw weight would you recommend? It's not my first bow, I have an old 25-30 lbs takedown longbow that my father gave me for my birthday at some point. I'm not super muscular, but no weakling either (6ft 165lbs), I'd like to have a bow that doesn't get too "easy" for me after a short time. It should be a bit hard at first.

Thanks guys!

They're supposed to be pretty nice. I'd hesitate to get one too heavy unless you have a specific need. If you plan to hunt thick hided game (some of the African stuff maybe) you will need to throw heavier arrows and heavier arrowheads and for that you would want a relatively heavy bow. For target shooting though, or shooting European or North American game (for instance), there's nothing you can't kill with a 45# bow. I'd be really disinclined to go much past 55 or 60# though. If, for whatever reason, you decide to sell this bow, bear in mind that a lighter (within reason) bow has a much larger pool of perspective buyers.

Whatever you get - you need to share pics! :D
