I'm on the fence for a new pocket gun, considering the NAA .22mag.. any suggestions??

I LOVE my Ruger LCP, .380! Highly recommend it! First time I ever carried a gun smaller than a .45, Glock model 30 and a Colt New Agent are my normal CC guns, but the LCP is so light I sometimes forget it's in my front pocket. Oh, and it's pretty accurate!

Like K9Handler said, LCR would be another great choice if you prefer a revolver, & will probably be my next handgun purchase.

if y'all have SKS i hope y'all got the firing pin fix.

or else :)

still wanting a nice YUGO or two. one day.

got two very fine Mosins though, including one of the M39s. need an M44. and M65 :)

one day, more things... no hurry.

 Wait, what? SKS Firing pin problem?...is this recent?

Sitting in the middle of a storm right now. Why am I awake? Im going back to to sleep.

Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like it's a reasonably good choice then, for someone who likes a .40. I'd go .45, but the ammo is just so much more expensive.

For my hand, I prefer the Smith & Wesson M&P 40. I prefer the XDm over the XD. Another interesting option is the CZ 75. For a range gun, though, it's really hard to beat a 1911. I love mine and end up going for that most often.

Trust me on the reloading, though, you don't save money, you just get to shoot a lot more for the same money. Also, if your house were ever searched, you'd get painted as a lunatic for having thousands of "rounds " of ammo stocked, even if it's not loaded yet.

HAHA!! Ain't that the truth. I just counted and I have 16 1lb containers of powder sitting on my shelf and who knows how many different bullets. Some of the powder is still full and still sealed and some are almost empty. I should really just buy an 8lb Varget and an 8lb H4350 and be set for a while on them, they are the my most used rifle powders.

I bought issue #1 of American Survival magazine at our local grocer this weekend. Save your money for something better. It's basically a porn mag for geardos. No real articles of any value, just a bunch of pictures of gear.

Human reason, in one sphere of its cognition, is called upon to consider questions, which it cannot decline, as they are presented by its own nature, but which it cannot answer, as they transcend every faculty of the mind.

It falls into this difficulty without any fault of its own. It begins with principles, which cannot be dispensed with in the field of experience, and the truth and sufficiency of which are, at the same time, insured by experience. With these principles it rises, in obedience to the laws of its own nature, to ever higher and more remote conditions. But it quickly discovers that, in this way, its labours must remain ever incomplete, because new questions never cease to present themselves; and thus it finds itself compelled to have recourse to principles which transcend the region of experience, while they are regarded by common sense without distrust. It thus falls into confusion and contradictions, from which it conjectures the presence of latent errors, which, however, it is unable to discover, because the principles it employs, transcending the limits of experience, cannot be tested by that criterion. The arena of these endless contests is called Metaphysic.

Are you a philosopher, Guyon? I spent a LOT of time with that text. Critique of Pure Reason, right? How about this (and forgive the errors, I'm reproducing from memory from over 10 years ago): The sole end for which mankind are warranted, individually or collectively, in interfering with the liberty of action of any of their number, is self-protection.

No, I was just making a joke in GB&U: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...-my-last-couple-posts?p=11111529#post11111529

@ SKS firing pin

the cosmoline and assorted gunk from the decades buils up in the firing pin assembly...leading to what is called ''Sticky Bolt''. The firing pin sticks in the forward or firing position..so every time the bolt closes it fires....pretty much full-auto, but with no control.

The ''fix'' is a good cleaning, take it all apart, boil the parts, clean and lightly oil....then reassemble. Buying and using a mil-surp weapon aint the same as buying a 1022 off the shelf. I spend a couple hours on each Mosin I get, cleaning and inspecting.

But why would you want to screw up such a fun thing? :D

Once my C&R comes in, I think an SKS is going to be my first purchase. Just need to find one that's not insanely priced.

Come North one state. The beer is cold and the temps are in the high 70's.

Must be nice. One more 100°+ day tomorrow, then around 90° for the rest of the week it seems.

also, the firing pin channel *and* pin are tapered. you can drive the in in two stick. there's no spring, so you can get a slam fire by dropping the gun the right way - ie: no safety per se. though some SKS doe have a spring, lucky you!

THE FIX: a NEW firing pin, and spring.

'''Original Russian SKS’s, Mfg’d. from 1945 to 1950, had a firing pin design that incorporated a return spring.(above pic) Why “later” Russian, Chinese, and all others do not have this design, with spring, is still a mystery. The design was changed to a “free-floating” firing pin in 1951. All countries that made SKS’s copied this second design, and with it, slam-fire and uncontrollable full-auto are much more likely! (even with your finger nowhere near the trigger) Removing all the carbon, dirt, and/or cosmoline may not be enough to insure the firing pin does not lock forward. The pic below is a cutaway SKS bolt, showing vividly the firing pin taper, and the taper in the bottom of hole in the bolt, that firing pin bottoms against. This is where a mechanical “lock-up” can occur, as any tapered pin driven into a like tapered hole is likely to lock the pin in place. (check “Morse Taper” tools in any Machine Shop)'''
