But it is rather forthright of you to tell us this in advance.

About an inch of snow on the ground currently. More coming down.
So much for "spring"
so, is it better to be Dubz and not have enough work, or be Todd and not have enough time to sleep... conundrum!
what do yo self imployed people out there do for heatlh insurance. Whats something good to roll over 401k's?
It's called a BRO!![]()
Not when it's all satin and lacy!![]()
Peeping Jimmy.
It wasn't me, but... the pics are ALL over the web now.
Well, the goal was met as far as what my buddy needed done with his business, So, Ive kinda slacked off out there. I really need to get cranking on my knives and Blade show stuff so my buddy knew that would happen after his big show, But he's not liking it. he wants me back.
We've been talking about me working for him full time. I really enjoy working out there and he fully utilizes my talents and challenges me. Its pretty rewarding. The wage is really close if not a little more than my current job, (which I hate with a passion) but have benifits, company matched 401k, and job security here assuming I wont flip out soon and knock my bosses head off and get fired. Not only that, my buddy Glen is totally supportive of my knifemaking and has even offered commercial space in his warehouse to move and expand my shop if thats the route I want to go...........Whats your guys opinion? what do yo self imployed people out there do for heatlh insurance. Whats something good to roll over 401k's? any leap of faithers out there that has any advice? feel free to shoot, tired of losing sleep over it.
I was paying almost $900 a month to cover my wife and son through my job's insurance. We found an independent agent and got them both on Aetna with gap insurance too for about $400 a month and it covers pregnancy too, which they don't have to do in Texas. My wife stuck her accumulated monies in a savings account type thing.. (finance is NOT my book) I think it is an IRA..? I am not sure, but she just went to our bank and explained what she wanted to do and what she had, it was an employee stock option fund she got when she quit working out of home and went full time mommy.
The more I read your post about the subject, the more I can see what it seems like you want to do.. I can understand the indecision with the family there too. What is going to offer the better balance of stability and sustainability? Can you prosper with your buddy? Can you stand to stay working where it seems like you are increasingly dissatisfied with the management? It is never to late to try new things.. Do you think you could retire from your current job? If not, then is there a better opportunity than what your buddy is offering>?
I guess what i am saying is that, if you are going to leave this job you are at eventually anyway and your buddy is there with a good job, good pay, challenges, etc... Is there a better time to switch jobs than now?
I dont understand how insurance got so out of hand. I was quoted about $700. bucks a month for insurance that wont cover shit till you get about 12k worth of deductables paid, How is that not criminal? and thats not even as bad as what you paided Leebo. Unacceptable in my book. Aside from that, They took away my retirement last contract, The only thing I have now is the 401k, granted I saw the writing on the wall and have been contributing handsomely to it for about 17 years, got a pretty healthy chunk of money in there that I could invest, but will lose the company match so its not going to grow as fast.
As far as job security, I have it here, but whats that worth when they keep on bending me over and taking from me. My buddies business he bought is only 5 years old, ramping up now but no gauantees. But, if that folded he would keep me on. He has two other businesses, but what if he fell over dead tomorrow? I pray that doesnt happen, but its a hell of a question. the strange thing is money isnt the issue, Id probably make better money as far as weekly check goes working for him and puttin more effort in my knives. But, the long run could be a whole different story.
What to do, what to do, been stewing over it for a while, afraid I will soon lose my widow of opprotunity soon if I dont reach a decision.
