That's exactly why I let my wife deal with that kinda stuff. I'm extremely grateful for her ability to handle it and allow me to not strangle people and go to jail. :o

Funny thing is, my wife is the fiery one, and I'm the diplomatic one.

I'd be plenty pissed in WW's shoes though.

WW, if you end up talking to them, I'd probably handle it by telling them what you expect, and just saying that it's not negotiable. It was their mistake, and they need to make it right. Have your script written down, and don't deviate from it. Anything they say, you just stick to the script. When you get really pissed, just say "Look, I've told you what I need you to do to resolve your vandalism of my property. This discussion isn't going anywhere; let me know when you're ready to resolve this. Goodbye." Then hang up.

You are in the right here. If they stonewall, you CAN file charges. The cops might not be willing to make it a criminal case, but it can certainly go to small claims court. You probably won't have to drag it out into a court battle requiring a lawyer, because they know that would cost them WAY more. As soon as it looks like you are willing to go the distance to get a satisfactory resolution, they're likely to cave, especially if you say, "look, the cost to replace all of this would be XXXX, but since I understand this was probably an honest mistake, I'd be willing to settle for XXX, because I don't want to make this too hard on you. If you're going to make this harder on ME, we can adjust that figure upwards, but I'm sure we'd both prefer to just have this resolved."

Plan out what you want to say, get it written down, and just keep repeating yourself whenever they try to be non-responsive. It'll be really frustrating for them, and then you can get THEM to lose their cool if they're gonna be difficult. You can win this and get enough to satisfy you, likely without going to court.

Took the new SA Operator 1911 out and rand 200 rounds through it with nary an issue. Trigger isn't bad, fairly light and crisp. Brass was spit out a few feet away but over a swath of about 6 feet but none fell short. Dirty hands and dirty guns, It was a good day.

Sounds like a good idea, im thinking of asking the landlord for an email address. I can write something out a lot better than having to say it.

Bladite, i forgot about the parangatang until now, thanks for the reminder.

I like my gerber parang as well. For what it is, and what it costs, its a real decent tool.

...She said since the TV still works and its just cosmetics they wouldnt be replacing the TV or anything. She acted like the paint on my clothes, bed, dresser, headboard and everywhere else was no big deal. She actually said you can still wear clothes with paint on them

oh no she didn't!

yeah, i had a friend who had some stuff messed up. the lady that did the messing up said "you're over reacting, it's just cosmetic"... so my friend said "fine, i'm going to come over to your place and cosmetic your car, and the siding on your house and ..." and the evil lady started screaming "YOU WILL NOT MESS UP MY STUFF, I WILL KEEEEEEEL YOU IF YOU TOUCH MY CAR" and she went on for some time. eventually, money changed hands. a lot.

with your landlady, it comes down to this: you inventory everything: and you price out what it will cost to get PROFESSIONALLY cleaned, that's the minimum cost; you will not let another worker in there; the landlady can come do the cleaning of simple things if she wants; but absolutely you do not have to, unless you charge her $20 an hour for what can be cleaned. this includes a dry cleaning bill.

for the tv screen, you might get away with using a credit card to pop the blips off the screen itself, and a scotch brite pad (gently) on the other bits.

oh, and if it's latex based paint, water will, sooner or later, get rid of it. good luck.

Thanks Bladite

I have already taken pictures of everything and im starting an itemized list with the rough estimate price of the items when they were new. Not sure how to calculate damage cost....As id have to but the stuff new to replace it myself.

I just got through using a slightly damp microfiber clothe on the screen and it looks like i can get the paint off with that with a little/lot of effort without scratching the screen... I didnt bother cleaning the entire thing yet just in case she wants to see it in person.

I have honestly never tried to be the best dressed or anything so when it comes to the clothes im not really bothered.. BUT the way she acted like it was no big deal pissed me off, just because I dont care about a little paint doesnt mean i should have to wear stuff with paint on it...

Me and the wife talked about it and we decided if the first offer is 250 or more we will take it and just let it go since we have to live here another year or 2. But because she said 100-200 originally i wont acccept that. My only pair of boots cost about 100 and they got paint on them too and they look new besides the paint, i got pics of them too. So 100-200 dont cut it. The bedroom furniture is 3 years old, still in great shape, i paid 800 for the bedroom set, some paint dots on every piece of furniture... BUT its very small ones that im sure i could get most off with a little effort, and the super small stuff i can ignore.

But if its 250, i feel like at least she got me more than she said originally and ill just drop it. Of course im not telling her what our minimum price is yet though. But i feel that is extremely reasonable on my part.

Now my wife is more upset that a guy was in here that wasnt suppose to be, a guy our landlord doesnt even know their name or qualifications. She is more pissed about that then all the paint. Now im going to have to also tell her from now on she will need to give me names of the exact people coming or i wont let them in.

Leave the big city. Come chill out in the 'burbs with me!

LOL! Seriously considering it. We need to be near Toronto because Christine's job brings in six figures. It does complicate things.

That said, we would love to see you guys! LOL!

And commuting totally sucks! Good luck with the hunt:thumbup: The weather is getting nicer. Some Saturday / Sunday hikes may be in order!

Finally some good news, according to the tracking it looks like my Yuma will be here Monday. :D

Todd - I feel horrible that you had to shell out $25 for my shirt.
Tell you what -- send it back and get a refund on it and I'll wear my ESEE shirt and vest at your table instead.
sound good? :D

oh, yeah - got any plans for the blade out of the skeletool?
if not, bring it to the gathering, I have an idea.

Thanks Bladite

practice this phrase: "i shall be made whole"

through no fault of your own, you were wronged.

if you are not made whole (or better), then as a matter of course, you have been wronged - we call that theft.

just saying

Went swimming for a few hours today. Felt great.

Catchin up on the snark thread this morning. were to start, Cbear, good luck with the dame!
Thanks Bubba, it went better than expected. It was actually a REALLY nice time. BBQ (something erotic about a woman cleaning off ribs), then went to Forest Park and walked around taking pictures, went out on the paddle boats with a bottle of wine, then went to Cheesecake factory for supper. I just got home at about 8 pm, early I know but she had to drive back to Springfield and I didn't want her driving late at night.

Seriously, does anybody really eat the brown M&M's? :barf: :D.
They remind me of goose poo pellets. Who wants goose poo in their mouth?!

WTF is wrong with the brown ones? I thought they all tasted the same? Clearly I am not up to speed on.....many things.
Read question above...

Sounds like a plan  :D

Every now and then she fails... but not often. When that happens, she trots me out like some slathering wild ravenous bloodthirsty beast that's normally kept under lock and key, and allows me to scare the living daylights out of someone. That's pretty fun...
I always love when someone comes to the front door early in the morning, answer the door naked with a condom around your dong and a leather whip in hand...

Alright, BH's - I'm out of here for now.
In the meantime check this **** out. :D

Yeah, their cool, but there aren't any hearts in them!

guess who has two hands and two new knives?

johnson adventure blades, wharnstalker (hey, i came up with that name first a year ago ;>), and the Paranatang (now that's a great name)

both are awesome feeling blades; the parang looks mighty practical. it's VERY beefy.

many folx are sad there's no BK6 to be had, but there's a lot of similar tools. for $22 the Fiskars brushhook has been my goto demon for work.

the Gerber parang is none too shabby. it chops VERY well. not bad for $35. even more better, you need CHOPPING but not necessarily speed, the KaBar Zomstro is killer.

but hey, a Steven Johnson Parang. i'm all over this.

oh, for laughs, i also got the TDI cane. sometimes a guy needs a cane? also this thing is stupidly sturdy. strong. steel. heavy. MMM.
Can the cane be used as a cane for real? Is it worth the price? Have you played with the 1117? I really like it, but it needs scales.

Power back on, finally.
I thought you said that it's beautiful up there?! Today was GORGEOUS today. Couple of cirrus clouds in the sky but not many!

I will take a dump in a box and mail it to you for just the cost of shipping Gus. I didnt know you were into that kinda thing, but happy to help where I can.
Good ole Thorny, always giving. Gus I bet if you ask real nice, he'll give you the Moose treatment!

My ex's mother lives in Scarborough area. It's nice but not 6 figure nice. Of course if Christine makes 6 figures, you can just get her a Mosquito XE and she can fly to work no problem.

Daizee, I dunno if you will see this... Your dashi makes a BAD ASS little steak knife!
