Which one are you looking at C-Bear? I've reviewed a bunch of their packs in the past. Was always impressed.
I was looking at the Osprey Sojourn. It's a HUGE pack (80L) but one thing I really like about it is I can use it hiking/camping (it has the shoulder straps/waistbelt), and it also has the wheels/pull handle so I can use it when travelling. I really like that bit. I had some hands on (demo) with it and it seemed nice but that initial sticker shock had me a bit put off. ($325)

What's people's opinion on Osprey packs? There was a nice one I was looking at.

I've got a few of the much older ones, and they're all great - which is why I have more than one. I don't know about the newer stuff, but as Gus says they're well reviewed and most everyone I know with a newer one likes it as well.
I'd be a little wary of a travel pack most of the time; they are usually lacking in the suspension department for regular backpacking - especially one that large. Maybe Osprey has nailed it, tho. I'd check the closeout/outlet section at L.L. Bean's; I swear I've seen that pack somewhere heavily discounted. Possibly it was at EMS. Good luck!

Their wheeled packs are GREAT (I can tell you stories). As are their backpacks. How much backpacking do you plan on doing with it? This rig will be heavier than their more hiking-specific packs and the suspension system will likely be less efficient. Should be fine for shorter hikes (airport to the hotel?), but not as appropriate for extended backcountry travel.

If you think of it as excellent wheeled-luggage that can also be used as a pack in pinch, you won't be disappointed.

Does that help?

Nailed it!

What IPAs did you have D? I think many of the currently "popular" IPAs are over-hopped and almost undrinkable.

absolutely!

It was just you and your wife out there right? You might want to think twice about uploading those pics and vids... Not saying you shouldn't! Just somethings are better left offline.
My sister wants to go out to Chesterfield to the new outlet malls... I'm thinking that is the closest I'm going to get to hiking today... Being her pack mule. However she promised me lunch and it's been a long while since we got to spend any quality time together so I'm going to jump at the chance.

Trader Joe's just down the road from the Chesterfield mall is a fun place to visit.

10 minutes ago it was 80 degrees and sunny as can be and now we are having a huge hail storm, this darn oklahoma weather

did that here, too -- we went from 73 to 56 in about 15 minutes while outside building a small raised bed garden

Murph, this is a damn good pale ale. Thanks.

It's not near as good as there Wee Mac or there Cream Stout. But then again, I didn't buy it so I will shut up.

What I did was grabbed this pack, loaded it up with about 40 lbs and wore it around the store for about 25 minutes. I realize that wasn't an "end all; be all" test but it was pretty comfortable for that. I had someone help me get it loaded up and properly situated, although it wasn't the store personnel. I did manage to sell 2 Kelty packs while I was there too.

It does. I was thinking of like 5-10 mile hikes, I don't do much outside that range. I don't have the knees to do more than that really. However the weight in the pack doesn't effect me really at all for some reason. I was wondering if it really is worth the $300+ tag.

So is the one in Brentwood... Several soccer mom types with too much money and not enough fashion sense to know not to walk out of the house with painted on yoga pants.

Damn straight it is.

Agreed. I might have to put the hurt on my other growler of Wee Mac tonight. Also getting a keg of Wee Mac and a pony of Osiris for the big day....

I like pale ales for the most part, but haven't found an IPA that I like. A few tasted OK, but the aftertaste absolutely ruined them for me. I'll stick with something like Moose Drool or that Mississippi Mud I posted the other night....those are more my style.

I hope they move from fad to classic, like blue jeans.
So, what about blue jean yoga pants?!

BTW, I have to always correct myself cause I originally type out yoda pants, and then change it to yoga pants... Yoga seems so foreign while yoda seems so normal. I think there is something wrong with me.

Well you aren't supposed to be the one wearing them! :D:D
I'm sure you'll hear me loud and clear when I say absolutely no one wants to see me wearing them. But I do hope they stick around for as long as my eyes keep working...even if occasionally I have to see them on a fashion tragedy.

Watching Naked and Afraid. The woman (who happens to be a yoga instructor and wellness teacher) brought with her a Tops tom brown tracker for her 1 item. At the least her taste in knives isn't too shabby.

enough with you pansy beer drinkers.
I just opened a bottle of 2011 Ravenswood Zin, which is WAAAY better than a $12 bottle of wine has any right to be.
Of course I'll probably be congested from the histimines in about 30 minutes, so save your laughs for then.
