I just ordered a Ka-Bar Master Key for my Dad's birthday. I was tempted to order a Gamestalker for myself because of Dexwithers' mod, but resisted.

I like the Tinker. Never found one of the aluminum-scaled ones in a physical store when my defenses were down.

Aluminum is where its at!! Get after it Daizee!!!!!

I had a camper and ended up giving it to my nephew. It was thicker than the farmer and had stuff that I just didn't need. I believe that the alox farmer was declared the official Beckerhead SAK.

Man was I pissed tonight. Was going through my pack that I take to work and my Leatherman Wave was mia. Searched the whole thing and nada. A few minutes ago I realized that I had put it in a tweener sheath a week or two ago to make sure it would fit cuz someone on here had asked about it. All is well in the world again.

Wow. Check out this fire-making technique with dried bamboo. Starts about 2:30.

If Guyon starts taping his nipples I am going to be really concerned.

Good on you for being committed to making yourself healthy, I need to work on doing the same.

Would this make me more aerodynamic?
This may sound, to the uninitiated, as seriously fruity....having finished a 10k in the rain without following this advice, tho, I can tell you: no matter how ghey it sounds, it's better than bleeding from said nipples and the pain that follows - wear those Band-Aids before or be prepared to wear them after. At least at a race, no one will give you any sideways glances...

Two Becker patrol packs on the bay right now.

Hope this isn't deal spotting. if it is let me know and I will edit this post.

Agreed. I use mine all the time. Super handy. The saw on it works great for making a clean end cut on small branches .

I've been courious about those since the came out. Thinking it might be something good to stash in the my car or BOB. That gamestalker looks pretty sweet...

I want a dehydrator worse than ever.

Go for it. You don't have to spend a ton of money, either. It's just a hot plate and a fan with some trays, basically. Angie snagged one for like $2 at a thrift store a few weeks ago, and now it runs almost all weekend long so we have snackies for the week. Haven't tried to make jerky with it yet, but it sure makes the kitchen smell nice while you're drying bananas or apples in it.

Hey biscuit, if you get some air filters and a box fan and some bungee cords you can make your own dehydrator. Alton Brown does a walk through to making jerky and that is what he uses.
That's another way to go... it just depends if you have time to build something or just want to plug in and rock. People did this stuff for centuries before electricity and natural gas. ;)

All of this reminds me, I need to chop up some of the seasoned Bradford pear we have and get the smoker going...

I know there are a couple brewers in this crowd, any other wine-makers? I'm gearing up to make a couple batches and could do a tutorial if anyone's interested. Muscadines are all over Craigslist for cheap this time of year, so I may try some of that as well as my basic apple.

I killed a possum with a BK9 a couple nights ago, didn't want to chance shooting the dog.......

Off to the quote thread with you! :D

Would love to see a wine how to thread

So, I see myself getting a becker fix in the near future. Honestly, I like blades that I know I will use. Somethin small like a 14 or 24 is certain to be used. Something big and overbuilt...not so much (yet). I already have a 16 next to that 14 and 24. What to get? An 11? 15? 17? Or should I wait for some new stuff to come out in the (near?) future? Or maybe I should just get a new sheath for the 24? Hmmm

The 15 has turned into my everyday knife, I keep it in my daypack and use it for everything from cutting my sandwich in half at lunch to batoning 4 inch oak logs. It is a great cooking knife, it gets used in the kitchen at least a couple times a week. I put micarta scales and G10 liners on it and couldn't be happier with it. I even got rid of my old goto camp knife that I said I would never sell. I am looking forward to processing a deer or two this season with it. I also carry a 24 in my pocket everyday... So 15 or 24, can't go wrong with either.

Made it to my hideout this weekend. Just a heads-up... the local copperheads have learned to use some highly tactical camo... effective too..

Damn that one is hiding good! I would loose my %#%$ walking up on that guy....

I would like a tutorial I have been doing it off and on for 10 years or so. Got in to mead a bit as well. Have some I need to rack off today if I get around to it.

Just wanted to show off what I've been working on today.

My first time making wooden knife scales and attaching them to a blade. I learned a lot. Like make the extra trip to the store and get the 30 minute epoxy instead of just using the 5 minute stuff you already have. Man that stuff set up quick and almost ruined my whole project. Think to much hardener came out. What a mess.

Anyway, I picked up a few pieces of nice wood at the store this weekend in preparation for some Becker projects I am planning to do. While I was waiting for the etchent to work on my new laser saber 16, I decided to mod my Gamestalker.

Put some ebony scales with stainless pins and a brass lanyard hole. If any of you have this knife then you know that it is a skeleton tang. I cut a pice of ebony the same thickness and shape of the two inner cutouts and epoxied it in with the pins.

Here's a few pics of what I have so far. Gonna do some more sanding on it but this all I could stand for today. Wanted to get enough done so I could at least use it.

Nice job! totally transforms that knife..

Finally starting to feel like fall around here. In the 40's last night, and still just 53°. High of 69°. Gotta love the fall.

in on 14 !!! woohoo

13th anniversary today... haven't got the wife anything yet..... .she's sitting across the room from me and I'm getting a little nervous she's going to break out a present for me.....

normally on any holiday albeit valentines, bdays etc she'll expect acknowledgement first thing in the morning, so I'm hopeful she hasn't got anything yet and will buy me sometime.....

13 has been a favorite number of mine since I was 13:D so I have to do something special, so far I'm taking most the day off......

is that enough?? you know quality time and all.... ??

yep love it, its been a little crisp here at night for the last couple days... though its going to be in the low 80's all this week

mrn8 thanks man... she hinted yesterday (when I thought it was the 5th of Oct) for this bracelet she seen an ad for at a local jeweler....

so I may have to take a trek over there

I was looking to get another SAK. The only requirement is its not overly stuffed with tools/gadets but its not tiny tiny either. Just the basics is what I'm after. What would you all recommend?
Alox farmer is nice. I prefer the hiker (not alox scaled) because it has the same tools, plus a screwdriver and a small blade. It's not much larger. The farmer's main blade is a little larger and thicker than the hiker, camper, and most other models. It's awl is different as well, wider and without the hole for threading leather. That's because the awl is on the top, rather than underside.

I prefer the hiker over the camper because the camper has a corkscrew and the hiker has a dedicated phillips screwdriver. I don't drink out of corked bottles in the field.

Corkscrew on the Camper is pretty much useless for me as well, so I purchased the eye glass screwdriver to go into it. Hard to complain anyways, picked up the whole knife in like new condition for $4.

Bah... You don't know nipple pain 'till you rip one of them nearly off your body like I did... Now that smarted a bit

Doc

Corkscrew on camper is THE easiest knot untier you'll ever try.

I don't need the Phillips because I like the can opener just fine for turning those and I keep a little multi tool chained to it that has a full shafted one anyway.

Don't use that but for pliers really.
