I like the Tinker. Never found one of the aluminum-scaled ones in a physical store when my defenses were down.
If Guyon starts taping his nipples I am going to be really concerned.
Good on you for being committed to making yourself healthy, I need to work on doing the same.
This may sound, to the uninitiated, as seriously fruity....having finished a 10k in the rain without following this advice, tho, I can tell you: no matter how ghey it sounds, it's better than bleeding from said nipples and the pain that follows - wear those Band-Aids before or be prepared to wear them after. At least at a race, no one will give you any sideways glances...Would this make me more aerodynamic?
Alox farmer is where its at
I just ordered a Ka-Bar Master Key for my Dad's birthday. I was tempted to order a Gamestalker for myself because of Dexwithers' mod, but resisted.
I want a dehydrator worse than ever.
That's another way to go... it just depends if you have time to build something or just want to plug in and rock. People did this stuff for centuries before electricity and natural gas.Hey biscuit, if you get some air filters and a box fan and some bungee cords you can make your own dehydrator. Alton Brown does a walk through to making jerky and that is what he uses.
I killed a possum with a BK9 a couple nights ago, didn't want to chance shooting the dog.......
Go for it. You don't have to spend a ton of money, either. It's just a hot plate and a fan with some trays, basically. Angie snagged one for like $2 at a thrift store a few weeks ago, and now it runs almost all weekend long so we have snackies for the week. Haven't tried to make jerky with it yet, but it sure makes the kitchen smell nice while you're drying bananas or apples in it.

All of this reminds me, I need to chop up some of the seasoned Bradford pear we have and get the smoker going...
I know there are a couple brewers in this crowd, any other wine-makers? I'm gearing up to make a couple batches and could do a tutorial if anyone's interested. Muscadines are all over Craigslist for cheap this time of year, so I may try some of that as well as my basic apple.
Off to the quote thread with you!![]()
So, I see myself getting a becker fix in the near future. Honestly, I like blades that I know I will use. Somethin small like a 14 or 24 is certain to be used. Something big and overbuilt...not so much (yet). I already have a 16 next to that 14 and 24. What to get? An 11? 15? 17? Or should I wait for some new stuff to come out in the (near?) future? Or maybe I should just get a new sheath for the 24? Hmmm
Made it to my hideout this weekend. Just a heads-up... the local copperheads have learned to use some highly tactical camo... effective too..

Just wanted to show off what I've been working on today.
My first time making wooden knife scales and attaching them to a blade. I learned a lot. Like make the extra trip to the store and get the 30 minute epoxy instead of just using the 5 minute stuff you already have. Man that stuff set up quick and almost ruined my whole project. Think to much hardener came out. What a mess.
Anyway, I picked up a few pieces of nice wood at the store this weekend in preparation for some Becker projects I am planning to do. While I was waiting for the etchent to work on my new laser saber 16, I decided to mod my Gamestalker.
Put some ebony scales with stainless pins and a brass lanyard hole. If any of you have this knife then you know that it is a skeleton tang. I cut a pice of ebony the same thickness and shape of the two inner cutouts and epoxied it in with the pins.
Here's a few pics of what I have so far. Gonna do some more sanding on it but this all I could stand for today. Wanted to get enough done so I could at least use it.

Finally starting to feel like fall around here. In the 40's last night, and still just 53°. High of 69°. Gotta love the fall.
Alox farmer is nice. I prefer the hiker (not alox scaled) because it has the same tools, plus a screwdriver and a small blade. It's not much larger. The farmer's main blade is a little larger and thicker than the hiker, camper, and most other models. It's awl is different as well, wider and without the hole for threading leather. That's because the awl is on the top, rather than underside.I was looking to get another SAK. The only requirement is its not overly stuffed with tools/gadets but its not tiny tiny either. Just the basics is what I'm after. What would you all recommend?
Corkscrew on the Camper is pretty much useless for me as well, so I purchased the eye glass screwdriver to go into it. Hard to complain anyways, picked up the whole knife in like new condition for $4.I prefer the hiker over the camper because the camper has a corkscrew and the hiker has a dedicated phillips screwdriver. I don't drink out of corked bottles in the field.
