well, ya done proved it to yourself.
If it's not obvious already, only hammer on a knife with a mallet or a piece of wood.

LMAO, yea i didnt have either..... So i used a regular steel hammer... I knew it wasnt the best idea, but im not known for making the best choice most the time LOL

It's just not that difficult to pound a knife tip-first through a few quarters, or a car hood or an oil drum. It's not even that hard to find a knife that can do it and still keep its edge... mostly because that sort of use has almost zero impact on the edge itself. Serious knifemakers routinely drop their blades point-first onto a concrete floor to see if they'll chip or break... and some of us break out ball-peen hammers and seriously abuse blades... serious knives routinely pass that sort of testing. Our standards really are that high these days, and that's a wonderful thing.

The physics involved are really quite simple, and the results are frankly not terribly impressive. Given the wide variety of truly excellent steels, well-tested HT protocols and proven geometries available to us today, a maker would almost have to make it a point to purposely design a knife that would fail such tests.

Sorry to be a spoil-sport, but punching through coins is just not that big of a deal. Heck, I can do that with a roofing nail. It looks awesome in marketing pics/vids, though. :)

You spoil sport!!!! Someone peed in your cheerios this morning LMAO we just having a little fun :D

The quarter thing looks more impressive than cutting cardboard and other stuff, even though cutting cardboard can show so much more when it comes to edge retention.

If i was really trying to prove a point or show real useful test i wouldnt use a becker or a busse as the main knife. I have already tested both of those steels and while good, there not as good for my uses as 52100. But the test I do batooning hardwood, slicing and cutting cardboard doesnt look cool LMAO it does however show me which stays sharp longest, which deforms under intense pressure, which will chip or which will roll ect.

This test really doesnt teach me anything LMAO it was done just for amusement and sharing on the board.

Now I do have a knife id test head to head against ANY other knife out there when it comes to edge retention if it was a serious thing... And if my knife DIDNT win, id be buying one of the ones that did next.

I cant say mine is the best, it works the best for me as of yet though... but i am after the absolute best. I didnt call the world record holder because i wanted something sub-par LMAO

Now back to your yellow milk LMAO :D

This is all said jokingly... Im still half drunk and i dont want anyone getting upset because my words sound off or something LMAO Joke, we friends LMAO :D

No one peed in my cheerios, brother. I ain't angry or hatin'. Just snarkin', that's all :)

All is good man!!! I was just teasing, I know you get down with brown not mellow with yellow!

Post reported for defacing US currency :p :D

Damn it, I guess i can look forward to another infraction.... And i was going to say something about the government already defacing something something something but i didnt want an infraction plus a strike for politics.

I actually seen a hilarious picture of the president playing the new grand theft auto with a funny caption... i wanted to post it but i was scared LMAO man now to see if i can find it again....

So, I see myself getting a becker fix in the near future. Honestly, I like blades that I know I will use. Somethin small like a 14 or 24 is certain to be used. Something big and overbuilt...not so much (yet). I already have a 16 next to that 14 and 24. What to get? An 11? 15? 17? Or should I wait for some new stuff to come out in the (near?) future? Or maybe I should just get a new sheath for the 24? Hmmm

^lol

On a different note. Just had an obligatory day course today to renew my lifeguard license. Pff, went quite deep. Was challenged to do a renewed exam exercise. Not obligatory but I don't say no to such a challenge. 75m crawl with eyes above water, followed by 25 meters with lifebelt (eyes above water), attach lifebelt to victim, swim 25 meters with victim, leave them behind, sprint 25 meters to the other side, dive up a dummy, swim another 25m with the dummy. All that with clothes on and under 4 minutes 20 seconds. I took my lifeguard exam 5 years ago and this physical test was a bit different then, but I was in the shape of my life at 18. Not so much now at 23 after 5 years of university... Anyway, completed the task in 3:44, well under the 4:20 that was necessary. As I said, I went quite deep. Everything turned blackish when I arrived and everything hurt. But I know I can do it when I really want it. That's good to know. Time to get back in shape, that's good to know too.

I got these weird friends that are into this thing called touch mudder. I keep telling them they forgot the 4x4!

Spell it however ya want, all I know is yer supposed to use a truck! That way you have a cupholder for your pepsi.

Lmao heck yea, cant go without the Pepsi LOL!!

But yea, using a truck or jeep is about the only way that would be fun LMAO
