Used the bk14 on this one... Smoothed the edges with a small sharpening stone and made the hole with a battery powered drill.

Way easier than using a screw by hand LMAO.

Granite hooked me up with a box of wood, I made 3 beads like this one... but when i drilled the holes I broke 2.... now I know to drill the holes first then shape them up.... After I shape them they are small and using the drill just broke them in half...

Nothing special, but im enjoying making them.... the one on the right is the new one, and its better than the first one if nothing else!

Those look pretty cool WW. I usually try to make something like that for my daughter every time we go out camping. She's always excited because daddy makes her a "necklace". Good stuff.

Learning from doing...best way to do it. You'll never carve one again without drilling the hole first. Glad you're enjoying the Wood, World. :D

I'm teaching myself how to bend kydex - thought I'd choose something simple for my first project, decided to make a belt loop - but me being me, I had to make it just a little complicated....

Dubz, this might be the solution to that $hi++y belt clip on your B.O.B. - I'm trying to figure out how to place a strap that would turn it into a fixed sheath that won't get in the way when I just wanna let it dangle...

thanks guys. Ill make some more interesting ones once i get the hang of it a little better, or get the right tools for the job LMAO...

And granite you are correct!! Ill never do another without drilling first :D Just shaping the beads and cutting them to size can take up to a half hour on each one with just a blade, then to have 2 of them break in half SUCKS lmao. But luckily I have some more wood to play with :)

Jonny, Thats awesome! I think Ill make my daughter a necklace once i get enough beads made up!! Cool idea!

My son always wants me to carve him a knife, even though he has a few wooden knives around already... but they last longer than the cheap toy knives and swords so i cant complain.

*this was in response to TMHunt, quote isn't working or I may just be drunk*
As a guy that has spent more time in one of those damn tubes than in a movie theatre in my life (severe head injury), I can tell you that they will give Valium if you tell them that you are claustrophobic. I can't physically fit in the tube unless they tie my shoulders together (6'4, 250) and I am VERY claustrophobic. It makes a very bad time into a " kinda wish I could do this every week" kind of time. I am very sorry to hear about your daughter, I can't imagine what that is like to go through, but if she has to do it again, tell the doctors that she is very claustrophobic and they will be able to help.

I have no dought that everything you said is spot on. Sorry to hear you've had to spend so much time in "the tube" when my daughter freaked out the first time we asked what the options where. They told us that a lot of times younger people can be sedated but they could not do it there so it would have to be rescheduled at a later date at a different facility and my insurance would not cover the anistedic. As far as a valium goes. They said the youngest they were allowed to give those was 15. My daughter is only 10. So, whadda you do? I tucked her in about a hour and a half ago, she was smiling and cuddled up with the family cat. So, I don't think she is to tramatized. But, I'm just as happy as she is that its over with. Now we just keep our fingers crossed for good results.

smoke and prayers too you and you're family brother!

Ok, I thought I was the only one that smoked tobacco pipes here.

Guyon, that is one fine collection and Dubz, that is one fine pipe.

What do you guys prefer? Aromatics? English? Virginias? Burleys?

Mill a slot in the drop dangle thing, attach strap with chicago screw. Can move dangle thingy down and put strap around bottom of sheath for belt carry, slide up, put strap around knife handle for dangle. Might have to make some sort of washer type thing to keep the strap from going through.

That's awful!

turn off some of the fancier visual effects, esp parallax. perhaps "increase contrast" to remove the lovely translucency.

for the love of god turn off "background processing", unless you need that. big battery suck.

turn off most useless notifications, push sevices and even location services. GPS will kill you.

and a few other things you can tune, and your battery should last a long time.

DANG Guyon!!! You have an entire collection there!

Thats awesome man!

The middle row, last pipe before the horn/bone thing.... Thats a beauty there.

guyon has a collection disorder thing going on... most number of posts. most kayaks. most older Becker other than me (heck, he was buying the all), bag whore supreme.

so pipe? not surprised. he probably has buckets of trinkets we don't know about yet. like, hummels, or lead crystal butterflies or something

:D

my kinda guy!

so it looks like the rudder [pin] block on my kayak is "old and decrepit"

could last me a year or five, or it might grenade in a month

looks like they made a lot of spare parts, but they got bought up, and sold out - $65 each

i could MAKE ONE from delrin 3/8 x 1.5 x 2.0 inches, or even a block of aluminum that size... 1 big hole, 3 bolt holes, two grooves. easy.

which gets me thinking: mmm, i should get a drill press. or maybe a 3 in 1 mill thing? or ... yeah.

oddly, i can buy a complete drop in rudder replacement system for $75 include the new lines. huh.

That sounds like a good idea. I'm gonna hafta make some drawings first...and make some sort of jig...that won't work right the first time...modifications....adapt workspace...iterate.....design "opportunities" (errors to be corrected)....now I really cannot just make this a simple thing nor make this thing simply.

I'm gonna need to buy more parts.

You know you'll get the tools. We always get the tools. Sometimes they drill things, sometimes they are versatile and extremely sharp, but, we always get the tools
