Official BeckerWest 2014 Spring Gathering. April 25th-27th

Ok, I talked to 'faler yesterday and he said that I can return to this springs gathering as long as my blade does get near his fingers.

I'll provide eats for everyone Friday night as well.

See you all there.

That was my own damn fault man, glad yer comin!

All are welcome! What Busses do you have?

Only 1, that's all you need right?

Still waiting on my Rat.

Got a TGLB, the Rodent Solution is on the way,

My only KaBars left are a USMC and a Mark 1, I had 4 KaBar Fin Fixed blades but have given them to those who are close family/friends.

Been thinking I want a Dogs Head Coppersmith and a Machax though and I still gotta try the BK2.

There will be plenty of BK2's out there to try...
The Dogs Head has always interested me as well, the flat scales are what has stopped me from trying one.

This thread is looking good and I am really looking forward to this trip (got quarter chub just catching up). I don't know how, but you knife fags have converted me. Every time I look in my safe and see the pile of nice knives growing I am disgusted with myself. I just tell myself it has more to do with the awesome camp out we have than the knives (Which is a lie, because I don't even like most of you. That was a joke the only one I don't like is Dr. Beardlove)

Any how I am planning on running the chopping competition this go around, and because I have won it so many times and have grown tired of all the excuses, I've decided to implement a couple rules. In attempt to get rid of the possible excuses and allow for a more variable free contest: The 4x4 will be strapped down (no carving on each other) , There will be no putting weight or a free hand on the end of the cut ( you don't get to jump off a log pile with a flying falcon suplex to the end of the 4x4 after three strikes with the blade ), you will need to cut all the way through. And everyone participating will use a BK9 ( I'm sure I'll hear some groans about that but this is not a blade makers chopping competition, this is a Becker event and I think this will give you the best chance you're ever going to have of beating me:) . more rules may be coming to further sway things in my favor but for now....... that is all.

Sounds fair..............I dont like it :) Still sounds like fun though :D I wonder what sort of mods can be done to a BK9 to get a faster time? Probably just have to apply lots of fast a furious technique to it!!!

I've heard rumor that the stripped 9 has just a hair faster strike time....you know less drag and all. ;)

I've also heard oil on the blade cuts wind resistance.;)

Sounds good VG! (VG sounds like a horrible STD by the way. :D)
BK9's for everyone in the competition will be nice. I'll put some racing stripes on mine.
And I like the idea of strapping the 4x4.

This is shaping up to be another great get together!
Beardlove sends his regards!

I think Ill bring my 9 and get in on this action.

Tell BL that the staff head carving contest cannot be x rated this time ;)

I'm not sure if everyone knows who Damon Lusky is but he is a new knife maker to Blade Forums. He was an apprentice of Dylan Fletcher and now has a hosted forum.

I messaged him to see if he was interested in sending us one of his blades to check out. This is what arrive in the mail today.

I got to tell you it's probably the sharpest knife I've ever held, ergos are great and the fit and finish is perfect. The scales have just the right amount of tackiness so they are grippy and comfortable.

It'll be available at the gathering for everyone to play with.

I was so impressed I already messaged him to place an order for the AK-1 Minor. Go check out his forum he has some blades for sale now.

That's a nice one. I went through all of the hosted knifemarkers subs last week, and saw his work. He's got some nice stuff. I'll definitely be wanting to use that thing. :D

Hey, I noticed the Becker Gathering thread posted by Moose, and he said they are planning the Gathering for the last week in Apr or the first week in May. Does this indicate that Uncle E won't be coming out this time?

You are gonna love it, I'm really impressed. Last time I've been this impressed with a custom is the custom walking stick Beardlove made me. Seriously though Damon has got skills and I can't say enough good things about this knife. Used it for food prep, cut my steak with it and made a quick figure four trap, performed flawlessly and absolute comfort in the hand the whole time.

ok fellas, I got a few handles and a few sheaths I'm bringing up. any request? I need to know ASAP so I can work them in my schedule.

I guess I'm in charge of sling shot mayham, bring yur own and extra's. I will be using my simple-shot with the new screw on clips. I'm bringing up 1/4" BB's and I'll try to pick up some zombie targets, if not I think cans will be best. 5 BB's each or something. if we can probably gonna take place behind the camp area where all the fat wood is... bring safety glasses or barrow some everybody playing and around will have to where them.

also I was kidding about entering my 710 painkiller about entering it in the contest.. still coming up and will be around for some handling of 1/2" 3.2 pounds of powa!

As we get closer, I hope Jon, Abrasion or Fal'er will post up a list of camp equipment needs. I could bring some stuff, just need a list. :)

Canopies and tables seem to be the biggest need at these gatherings.
I'll bring one of each.
If anyone can think of anything else we might want, then please post here and I'm sure that between us all we can make it happen!

I'll be bringing the fire grill set up and the big ass pan along with some large cook pots, the usual set up. Also I see they set the dates on the becker east gathering, so I'm expecting to see Ethan here at the end of April. (or else)
