Official KITH Photo Thread

Ta da!

Ok, so I finished the knife yesterday and the sheath tonight. I just need to sharpen the blade but for all intents and purposes, it is done. They are both O1, the top one is cocobolo 4" blade, 4.5" handle and the bottom is macassar ebony, 3.75" blade, 4" handle. I want to ask which one I should put in but I think I will put in the cocobolo. This pic is just a place holder until they are sharpened, at which time I will replace this with a better shot.

and apparently I take the crappiest pics ever. They look much better in person.

Wow, there are some absolutely fantastic knives in this exchange!! I hope to be of enough caliber next year to participate as well!!

Nice! Is that some type of a 'pocket sheath' for the back pocket?

Yep, exactly.:)
I've been carrying a similar model in the same sheath (it's a purchased sheath, I don't make 'em) for about a year and it's awesome. As far as I can tell, it's the only way to carry a fixed blade that's both convenient and inconspicuous.

I know, I know I need to clean my shop!! My grinder is not visible in the pic, I was standing beside that badboy when I snapped the picture.

Joseph- That looks about the size of my little shop/shed I had built. Mine's a 10x12, what size is yours?

Thanks Bill, if you look real close you can see my stool behind the chair with my work apron hanging over it. I only use the chair when I'm waiting on one of the ovens to reach temp, don't you see the barbell laying on the floor in front of it!!!!

Hi Craig, my little shop is 12X24 and getting crowded as you can see. I have a shed off one side for my forge, anvil, dust collector, lawnmowers, ect., and I plan on expanding off the other side with a 12X24 conrete floor addition to add some room. For now though this will have to do, it's amazing how much stuff you can aquire over time.

Certainly Darrin, I should have done it in the first place. The knife was made using 1095 X 3/16 steel. It is 8 inches overall with a 3 1/2 inch cutting edge. Sheath was made using 8-9 ounce vegetable tanned leather. Scales are Santa Red G10 with holiday brass 1/4 inch flared tubing.

Damn that's a mighty nice wharnie Nathan:thumbup::thumbup: I love the lines on that one, and the grind is really crisp. Should make somebody a very happy camper.

Nice work all over in this thread!

34 people have posted all the required things, or contacted me.

Stacy, Thanks for getting my photo posted.

My entry is a "Bee & Trout" Knife made for a good friend that has Bee's and raises his own trout. He wanted a skinning knife instead so this one is for the KITH. It is wicked sharp and feels like a scalpel in the hand. The specs are:

Forged from an old file
7" OAL
2 3/4" Cutting Edge
G11 Handle Material
3 Copper Pins
Copper Thong Tube
Leather Sheath

It looks and feels way better than picture shows.
There are so many fine knives entered here.

Thanks,

Patrick Burns
