The idea is simple. Move your body. Get fitter.

Between the dates of November 15 and December 15, the challenge is to earn 50 Becker Points. Points can be earned in the following fashion:

1 mile (1.6 km) on foot = 1 Becker Point
4 miles (6.4 km) road cycling = 1 Becker Point
2 miles (3.2 km) mountain biking = 1 Becker Point
1 mile (1.6 km) swimming = 6 Becker Points

If you just do one thing, you'll need to hoof it 50 miles, or road bike 200 miles, or mountain bike 100 miles, or swim 8.3 miles. But you can combine items to build toward 50 Becker Points in any fashion you choose. Honor system in play.
This thread will be the place where people report in on their progress. Successful participants will get a Certificate of Achievement (signed by Ethan himself if I can swing it) and an "attaboy/attagirl" from me.

Below is the list of folks who opted in.
You can still be added by posting over in the Warm Up thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ereafter-Known-as-the-Move-Your-***-Challenge
Tomorrow, I'll be closing that thread and opening this one to avoid confusion over where to post.

Okay, this one is live.

My suggestion for updates is to provide, at a minimum: activity completed, Becker Points earned for activity, and total Becker Points earned to date.

Get 'er done.

Dang. Now, that's a tough act to follow. Don't you want to pace yourself? :D Good job!

I'm assuming this is where one post's his stats as they are completed, so here goes. Yes, I get up at oh dark thirty, and just took the dog for a walk and logged 1.5 miles in the freezing cold. I'm not done yet....the dog gets walked 2 more times, and I'll get on my bike when it warms up around noon time.

I find that quite difficult. I'll be keeping my stats logged with runkeeper and will count the lanes I swim. However, sometimes you end up doing like 3.1 miles or so. I just want to log whenever I completed an activity with the number of mileage and at the end of the challenge just add everything together in a final post and deduct the BP from that?
I'll be keeping an excel file of my progress as well.

First walk of the day. 2 miles total, just for starters. Activity: walking. Distance: 2 miles.

If all goes well I should be able to go for another walk, this time with my parents at a nice pond/small lake. Depends on how fast they completed their agenda.

Where I was walking now, about 7 years ago all of that was just a meadow. The people of the nearby town however had lot's of problems with rising water levels after heavy rainfall. Local authorities decided to dig out the meadow next to the local creek so it could overflow its banks without damaging the houses.
Fossiliferous layers from the Miocene era are not deep beneath the surface here so they were dig up for here and there during construction of this site. It allowed me to collect a bunch of shells, some shark teeth and sea mammal vertebrae. Good times. I still go to this place quite often because it's just a nice environment and the trail around the 'natural' pond is quite nice and well maintained. So today I did two laps around the pond :)

Another walk, this time with both my parents. Slower speed, but a bit longer distance. We come here often as well.
Activity: walking. Distance: 2.26 miles. Total distance up to now: 4.26 miles

Just a start - Jack (the Lab) and I walked 3.56 miles for 3.56 BP's.

Deer hunting tomorrow so maybe or maybe not much mileage.

Sun Nov 17 - surprised how much I do walk when deer hunting, but it is GPS measured. Between Sat and Sun got in 5.32 miles - total now is 8.88 BP's
Tues Nov 19 - Cumulative through noon today, 14.58 miles walking, 14.58 Becker Points.

ok I gotta scram but I will be back and see how can I post from the runtastic site. Morning mountain bike trail riding 4.7 miles for a total of 2 BP. An hour ago a co-worker talked me into joining a morning 5 mile jog tomorrow...sheesh my main motivation is that there will be lots of girls, but I have been avoiding jogging till I drop some more pounds. But I have dropped 15 already so I will give it a go.

I forgot to screen shot it, So far I did a 2.2 mile walk to work, then we took a tour of the campus which was .98 miles, and I have a walk home.

The program I have is free, but you have to pay for it to record... Didn't realize that.

Walked the freaking dog again, for 1.5 miles, and then rode my 19.2 lb mountain bike for 12 miles.

Let's see, that's 4.5 points + 6 points = 10.5 points Not bad for a Medicare recipient.:p
