Official RBK Picture Thread - Post Your BK21 Shots Here

I was up all night, in anticipation of its arrival (honestly, I woke up at midnight & just couldn't get back to sleep - a regular occurence in my world). I finally went to sleep right around 6am. I woke up around 10, and refused to get up...until I heard the distinctive sound of the mail "truck".

A few quick shots to appease the thread.

Just a box...somehow smaller than I expected.

The box inside the box.

The RBK, revealed.

And, lastly, measuring up against the other players.

Early thoughts:
I've got to attend to that poor 9 (done)
Like the BK4 and BK6, I was expecting it to be bigger. I knew the specs, it doesn't matter. Placed along side the other BKs, it compared as expected.
Hardly a monster; but it has a presence.
The design accentuates the blade weight, which is no surprise.
I think I might run a lanyard on this one - not sure why (I've always figured it would be better for a blade to get away from me, than get pulled back toward me, if I lose my grip)
Oh - I think I remember somebody posting that this was the least sharp BK they've owned. Mine seems sharp - certainly in line with other large Beckers
I'll comment more after it has done some work.

That poor 9 looks a little bit neglected

Nothing a little wet sand with TuffGlide and 800 grit couldn't clean up. I don't always clean after use; but I usually do so before sheathing and putting away....dropped the ball last time.
The other side didn't have any rust; but I didn't want it facing the other direction.

It's about due for a strip & light polish, anyway.

Not the best photos, but.....I am outside by the fire thanks to the 21.

Unboxed, and used my 21 this weekend at the cabin. Of course I took a gazillion photos. Thinking of doing a review, or at least, some initial impressions. Interesting blade, hmmm...

different color BK21 sheaths

Man, I love that second one from the left. That looks killer.

Its called hexcam 5echo, theres a ton of new patterns but the sheets are expensive.

Hexcam 5echo it is then. That's my favorite one in that pic too. Expect to hear from me to order one maybe a month after I get my 21. Love all the new stuff of yours I've seen having stopped in today after a fairly extended absence. Like others have mentioned, my wife rolled her eyes when I said earlier this evening that I have to get a BK21, so it's gonna take a month or so to let her calm down before I spring on her that I have to get another 710 sheath! HA!

Glad to see you staying so productive and creative. Will be in touch.

Did that myself Saturday night. Smoked a cigar, drank a few screwdrivers from my enamel cup, then switched to the Maker's Mark in my flask, haha.

So, two of the wisest guys on this forum start threads asking those that get RBKs to post pics. They do the obvious and combine said threads for forum domination (que predator movie arm wrestling handshake). Now, these two dynamos leave the thread to the rest of Beckerdom to share their joy. Not our fault the OTHERS are falling short. I've posted pics, and a pretty good review-if I do say so myself. So, now I ask you... What have you contributed... BLADITE... NCSLICE...???!!!! Hmmmm???? What say you?!

well, nobody is paying me for reviews or pimping.

that said, i secretly bought one a few weeks ago.

used, and abused it. i have opionions. convexed it. added liners. have opinions.

keeping my mouth shut for now :D

but my opinions will be based on hard use on my property though.

:}

saw that. chopping 4 times to remove a knot why saying "would not want to expend the calories". lol.

I've had mine out a few times, now. (no pictures, it was raining today...I don't mind working wet; but I leave the camera inside)
I'd commented somewhere about the lack of bite; but attributed it to the particular wood I was toying with (knotted up stuff that was the only thing available - and I wasn't going to beat the snot out of the 21 trying to do anything with it). After some further use, I'll reiterate that it doesn't have much bite. Stuff in the 2.5" thickness range, which I could have taken in one swing with my kukri machete, was taking multiple swings & often breaking rather than being cut through. Bigger stuff was just a waste of effort. I didn't do any batoning; but I doubt that would have been a problem.
I'm not sure if they put a more obtuse bevel on it, or if there's something else to blame. I'll have to sharpen it before heading out again.
*Crap - I just remembered I left it in the back of my Blazer when I dropped it off today. No sharpening tonight, I guess.*

Awesome Bladite. Would love to see a tracing on paper of the old, and new Becker/Reinhardt.

i'll having tracings, weights, thicknesses, and stuff.

i for SOME reason don't have an epoxy version, but i'm sure it's close to the bead blasted blackjack...

blackjack and kabar versions seem to have the exact same spine, with the new one having a leeetle more belly towards the handle.

spines are different than the Seki model, and the profiles are similar, but not the same, tracings will show. need to find graph papers :D

weights... Seki feels heavier to me, and is slightly more thick, and is fully convexed. it's a monster. it's also big $$$ now, i'd buy another one, if i could find one. they came in 2-3 sizes and shapes too.

Dubz wins this thread for photos so far!
