If somebody wants to bring a 22 to demonstrate proficiency, I would be fine with that. I think we need to have a qualification round before we back up into the shop and start lobbing big bullets towards a relatively small backstop.

I have a 22 pistol here that we could use for that, but you're welcome to bring your own if you want

But the competition will be done with full power pistols and revolvers
I'm sad I'll miss this. What's the max distance you'll be shooting at? Are you firing one handed?

How many practice shots will everyone get?

You can get a few practice shots with the .22 qualifier before qualifying. Also, if someone isn't bringing a pistol and they want to borrow one of mine, they can get a few practice shots with it.

We're going to have a qualifying round at a shorter distance with a .22 pistol before backing up and lobbing big rounds at a bottle cap because the backstop is kind of small and I want to make sure everybody is safe hitting it.

Assuming there's more than just a couple guys, I think there's a good chance the bottle cap gets hit, at least once, on each round.

It's a difficult shot but it's not undoable.

It's a variation of aim big miss big, aim small miss small. It seems awfully small and far away but you might be surprised what you can do if you focus.
