What kind of edge retention does canvas micarta have compared with 3V?

Im still in, but it will be another couple weeks. I had some major plumbing problems(frozen busted pipes), and brake issues in my Expedition this week.

Man that mock up is sweet! That thumb ramp I thought was ugly at first, now looks very functional. Great design guys!! Cant wait to get mine!!

Well, you all will be pleased to know my 6 yr old tested the prototype in 4" thick mud and it cuts GREAT!







I have 2 prototypes in STEEL coming to me from the Waterjet Guy. :thumbup: :thumbup:

As soon as they are here, I'll grind a quick bevel to give you a quick idea of the finished product...and post the pics here.


Every time I think about this project I get excited about it! Going to be a heckuva neck knife indeed!

I just realized that I need to be sure of something-

The tang is going to be skeletonized as it is in the image at the beginning of the thread, right? If not, I'll be wanting scales and I'll need to alter my deposit accordingly.

Yes....the first mockup was just to test out blade length...handle length & height...and so on.

that's why I left the paper drawing on the prototype in the 4th pic....that's what will be showing up...fully waterjet cut tang...should make for a very light blade!

Get yourself some laxative for that plumbing, jake!

The knife weighs in around 1.5 oz and the whole package (knife, sheath and chain) comes in at 2.7 oz
