Quick. Cover up. Your inner Yankee is exposed. :D

Not addressed at me, but....

Growing up near St. Louis, I found that folks I met (in the Army) from New England thought I was a southern redneck. Folks from Georgia, Alabama, etc, considered me a "Damn Yankee." I think "Midwestern" would be the most accurate description...expect now I'm a Texican...with some midwestern leanings. For example, I do use the term "coke" to describe all kinds of "soda." Nor do I call it "pop" like my Minnesota-born former mother-in-law.

Sorry to frighten the women and children, but I can't help it man. I never thought I would try any meat or veggie that I didn't even like battered and fried, but okra is definitely it. Gross. It's not just the horrifying texture either... no matter what recipe or veg mix you hide those vile things in, the flavor just ruins the entire dish for me. Kinda like cilantro. :barf:

On the other hand, as disgusting as they sounded to me, it turns out that fried green tomatoes are absolutely delicious :)

I was born in Alabama and lived in Tx all my life.. I can't stand fried okra.. taste like little balls of fried snot.

I will eat just about any other vegetable.. except olives, they are just plain nasty.

I have tried to like olives and failed....although I will eat them if they are on pizza or chopped up in something.....black ones, preferably, though like you, Lee, I can't eat them whole.

Dubz, I'm saving those links. Thanks for doing the "research".

I'll eat olives - black or green - by the handful if you put them in front of me. Love 'em!

funny, I am the exact same way, I can stand an occasional black olive on a pizza, but I usually dig them out and give them to my wife. Never know when you are going to need some accumulated brownie points. ;) The green ones can all go straight to hell, they are a taste I can't describe, but my tongue is recoiling in horror at the thought of them.

same here, thanks Warrior!

I do see the point of the tiny house thing that's all the rage lately, but... I lived in a really cramped "efficiency" apt for a couple years after I got out of school. The thrill wore off pretty quick ;) It was definitely a money-saver, though. Makes sense for a getaway cabin or hunting shack, but to live in fulltime? Nope, not for me. I'm from WI, dudez... I know guys with ice-fishing shanties 2 or 3 times that size :D

Cbear, check out this link. Sorta looks like the one you just posted, with a little more: http://tinyhouseswoon.com/tiny-wooden-house/
I showed my mom whole driving today, I think I have her convinced to let me build one out back for me. Getting her to go with it is the large part of the battle. She did say I could tie into the existing power and sewer too so I wouldn't need to compost my ish. I think for just me it would be just about perfect. If I did a 150 Sq ft I'd be happy.

In other news, over the next few days it's gonna be like Christmas at the Terrio Compound... got Ang's hammock, a cast iron dutch oven and some other fun stuff coming in for next weekend's camping trip. Bought our fishing licenses online last night.
Don't you love when that kind of stuff happens. That is the single reason I enjoy working!

I talked to him about that at Blade when he was wearing one of those damn kilts! Or maybe that was Moose. I don't remember, someone was passing a jar of shine...

 You are correct! I do mine on seperate skewers as well.
It depends mostly on what kind I'm making. The trick is similar density similar size. And if something cooks fast, surround it with an onion or pepper.

There's a documentary called Tiny about tiny houses.
That is what got me started on this kick. That coupled with being told I was intruding on the family makes me want to have something myself.

green olives, stuffed with blue cheese dropped into martini... Oh Em Gee!

I could lay out a floor plan for a house with a 150 Sq ft footprint that would be perfectly acceptable to live in alone. Mind you it wouldn't be only one floor. It would be two tall with the upstairs being only a bedroom and balcony.
