OK! Sal Question of the Day!!!!

Titanium is in reference to the handle. We probably would not use Titanium for a blade. Generally we would use S30V at this time. Using a more expensive steel would throw the price up even higher.

which is already looking to be expensive since Titanium isn't the cheapest....especially for such a big handle.

That's great news about the framelock Military. I hope you guys keep one side of the handles G10 to keep costs down.

This run is just Titanium scales. Simple.

We've not done a lot of titanium scales, but we planning on doing more.

I've been carrying a Titanium UKPK which is nice. We've got a short run of Titanium Catbyrds coming. The Leafstorm is half Titanium, The Sage RIL is Ti.

The problem with Titanium is that it is expensive to purchase and to machine, so the costs of knives with Ti is expensive, which is a very small market.

I would love a ti framelock military. Perhaps it would save cost to do half G10 and half ti (the lock side). I think that would look really cool as well.

Hi Rick,

From its original concept, the Militry was our original "mule". The knife was designed to be a user, not a colllection piece. The different steels and handle materials are a good way to test on a user model.

We are certainly going to make different variations of the military in our Golden plant. New steels, handle, etc.

The TiMil is currently in pilot.

Casual bombshell there. :D

Since the blade has not been reworked, does that mean that a current Military owner could add one of the scales from his G-10
Millie in order to make a titanium/G-10 half/half Military?

A pure Ti scaled millie? This is going to be cool. I like Buzz's idea of being able to add a G-10 scale on top.

If you look at my Post that started this thread, says nothing about collecting, I use all 4 Versions of the Military I own, always have always will, yes I do rotate them so I carry something different from time to time.

Spyderco's are designed and built to be used. Eric and i work very hard at that. The spirit and value of the design is found in using our products. Just looking at them doesn't do it.

Looking at a Ferrari is not the same as going 0-60 in 4 seconds.

This is awesome news. You are really blowing me away by making my Spyderco dreams come true this year. First the Sage RIL, and now this. I've owned three Militaries, and loved them all, but always ended up selling them because I'm just not into liner locks. This one will be a keeper.

Sal, quick question re: the Ti Military... will it be a sprint, or limited run? I need to know so I can budget accordingly. Thanks!

Thanks Sal And Eric for building unique knives that are users.I have used all the knives I own,but I am always happy to try something different.

A TITANIUM UKPK!?! Man, do I envy you. That would be my dream knife. You know how Chris Reeve puts the CL logo on the handle of his Sebenza? Imagine how cool a TiUKPK would be with the SAL logo engraved somewhere on the Ti slabs.

You know what I like about Spyderco? They answer Knife Knuts' questions before they even know to ask them. For example:

1.) What if I want to open a pocket knife with one hand?
Spyderco comes out with thumb hole when the idea of one-handed opening was still a novelty.

2.) What if I want to carry a pocket knife in a convenient and easily accessible place in my pocket?
Spyderco comes out with the Clipit line of knives before anyone had heard of pocketclips.

And now.....

3.) What if I want a slipjoint but don't want to sacrifice the materials, the looks, and the ergonomics of the modern pocket knife?
Spyderco comes out with the Slipit line of knives.

Whether you like the company's knives are not, you have to admit that Spyderco has revolutionized the knife industry perhaps more than any other company or person has.
