Ok What Did You Get For Christmas ?

Nitro is super-powerful and all, but too much maintenance for my tastes. It seems like my brother-in-law is ALWAYS replacing parts in his nitro Terra Crushers. I've always been an electronics buff, so the battery RCs really appeal to me. My brother-in-law is a mechanic, so the nitro machines are a perfect fit for him. I guess you just go with your strengths.

What did I get for Christmas? My Wife gave me a good swift kick in the backside and told me to do the vacuuming! :(

Birthday was 12/06........got nothing! Daughter and son called but that was it. GF asked for suggestions and since I didn't give her any......she hit me with a big ZERO too!
I know, I know, mainly my fault all around, but then, a few days later my GF's son calls her and says he's paying her way to spend 4 days over Christmas in Paris!! Naturally, I'm not going...wasn't invited and $1200 one way....BUT!....I do take her seriously when she suggests a knife as a souvenir (found out later she was really kidding......thinks I have enough knives already! Can you believe it?!?!) and I hit the net researching the cutlery of France.
I decided a custom Fred Perrin La Griffe would fill the bill....tutored her as to what to ask/look for, gave her the address of the best place in Paris to shop for a Perrin, even sent along $100 to help out on the purchase.
She gets there, the flight was tiring (no sleep), her son sets a hectic pace the first couple of days and then she gets sick and the Armes-Bastille never gets a visit!
I'm really glad she didn't end up in a socialist hospital, but I was a little bummed out! I'm pretty much over it now and have started putting out feelers for a Blackwood/Benchmade folder!

My wife always complains im so hard to shop for, i understand her point, either i already have it, or its very expensive, so she asked me for suggestions in the $300 range, well, i told her to buy me a custom knife, she said "im not buying you a knife for xmas..." I said, well, dont complain you cant find anything or that im hard to shop for if i give you an idea and you dont like it. :)

Anyway, long story short, i gave her contact info for 3 knives i like in that range, ended up getting a very cool Blackwood Henchman, the one made of a single piece of sculpted and contoured F-18 carbon fiber, it is extremely nice, nicer than i even expected, and im very pleased with it. Been wearing it as a neck knife since getting it, it weighs like half an ounce, cant rust, sharp edge and tip, the ultimate neck knife. Here are some pics i took the other day. Happy xmas to me... :)

Thanks for the compliment, though it is of course one appropriately directed at Neil who made it. It is extremely well made, F&F is flawless. Better make that want list up quick though, from what I understand, Neil made 9 of them, and wont make any more, he says the CF is difficult to work with and wont be making more, so, if you see one, grab it. :) I recall hearing that CF is both hard to work with, and dangerous to work with too because the airborne fibers are toxic when youre grinding it and special air filtration is required when using CF.

I got a small left hand Sebenza and a Large Classic left hand Sebenza. Larry

Ballots are all in and the grand total is;

-CRK 7.0 Green Beret
-CRK large redwood burl inlaid Sebenza
-CRK large curly maple inlaid Sebenza

sorta looks like a CRK kinda' Christmas!!
:cool: :D :)
