Yeah, yeah, I know, but its something I am curious about.

Mine is by far the BK2. Its my favorite for its robust design, brawny, yet capable of some detailed work. Hefty in the hand and confidence all around.

Since the BK9 is King, the BK2 is the Bouncer.

What's yours?

I'm really digging the Becker Necker and the BK-16. Most especially the BK-16. The handle has really been kind on the hand. I'm more or less using the BK-16 exclusively (when I use a fixed blade.)

Right on. Those are some good choices.

I been trying to decide on a blade to take on my fishing trip here in a couple of weeks, my list is my Bk16, BK17, Dozier K-11, or my Mora Bushcraft Force.

Its being quite difficult to decide, and I can't take them all on this trip. One knife, maybe two at the most, and I don't need a heavy hitter, as we are in the National Park, so, no cutting of the greenery. Fish and utility only.

And I need to trim some weight, my pack it hitting right at 15lbs dry, so, I'm thinking the Mora. Cut some weight on the steel.

My BK17 has been a blessing in the small game department, though. And the 16 is pretty much Utility incarnate. But my Dozier has such a thin edge, it would be a beast at cleaning small trout.

Tough call.

Bk 16 first followed by the natti Machax followed by the patrol machete.

Can't go wrong with the Mora for cleaning fish. I haven't tried one with the 16 but I'm sure it is up to the task. I had a bad experience with a Mora once. I'm not sure what your trip involves but I feel a little naked in serious woods without a robust fixed blade or SAK/Machete combo. Personal preference only, but I'd bring the 16.

Yeah, I hear ya. I'm usually a "3 Knife" kinda guy. Heavy hitter in the bag, nice belt knife, and small fixed/folder in the pocket.

I'll have my Spyderco Paramilitary on me as well, so I got a small thin blade if I need to use it, but I'm wanting to try to get through 5 days back country with just one "smaller" belt knife. Which isn't gonna be a giant feat, I just haven't done it in a long time.

A very long time. :D

BK-15 with a decent set of scales, followed by the 17.

I like pointy knives, and the 16 has never done it for me, despite the brouhaha and "celebrity" endorsements. :D

I'd go with Paramilitary in pocket, BK-16 on belt. You'll be absolutely fine. Paramilitary will clean fish very nicely because of thinner blade. I brought a Paramilitary-2 to the jungle in May. It was a standout amongst the folders I brought down there. (Article coming out in Blade at some point in the future.) If you're in backcountry the BK-16 may come in handier than you think. You never know what can happen out there.

Before I started with my whole fixed-blade era, I used an SAK (Huntsman) for just about everything. When we were doing longer trips with a big group we would bring along 1 small axe for group use. I'm fairly certain we could have gotten along just fine with an SAK and a group fixed blade and saved on weight, but this was before there was too much consideration given to weight. 35 pounds was fairly typical for a pack.

My favorite at the moment is my 7. Anyone every try to fillet at trout (or other fish) with a bk15? I'm tempted to pick one up for my camping trip for food prep.

I think my favorite BK belt knife is the BK10, and I don't have one. Like the 2, but without the back problems. (would love a Kabar-production w/ the skeletonized handle...). To me, the 10 is quintessential Becker without the burden of trying to be a chopper.

A thin-edged knife sounds appropriate for fish. If you remove batonning requirements, you can get really far with a slim blade. But look who I'm talking to, you know this. :D

I feel there's not much I can't accomplish with my 14, 2, and 9. 14 for the smaller tasks. 9 for the larger stuff, such as chopping, etc. I did make some fuzzies a few weeks ago with it. Not like it can't do the smaller stuff. And the 2 is the all arounder, imo. A Mora would be an excellent choice too. Very light.

Ethan -- before they hit the market. He said it was the knife he always wanted.

Isn't he the only celebrity around here? :D

Ethan's thoughts on the BK-16 certainly got me to look hard at it and when I did, I agreed. I used one for a little bit at PWYP and I was hooked.

I've been playing with my 10 some lately and am really liking it. It was a safe queen up until lately when I decided to start selling the knives I don't use. Really though, my 11 gets the most use and goes in my pocket pretty often. My friends like it too......they thought the bottle opener was pretty cool. I don't have a tweener yet, but I suspect that once I get one that it will probably become my favorite pretty quickly.

I just checked out the Dozier k-11. Thats a darn nice looking knife. Looks like it would open up some fish pretty nicely.

I've spent 3 weeks out on a hunting trip before, about 10yrs ago, used nothing but the folder in my pocket (CS Recon Clip) and never had an issue.

I'm more of a knife nut now, and want to take as much steel with me as I can. :D But the principles of this trip, are light, fast, and fishing. I know my PM is going with me, I'm just trying to figure out the belt knife.

And no heavy hitter in the pack. If we get caught in a tough spot, honestly, I can get by with just my folder for just about anything I need to do.

The BK16 is probably gonna win out, but it too close to tell.

My BK2 won't be making an appearance on this trip, as much as I lament that. I could just take it, and be more than covered, its cleaned more than a few fish in its day, and other critters. No issues there, but it seems a bit much for what we are challenging ourselves with.

I could go all "Reuben" on it, and just take a small machete and some gummi bears. :D

My favorite is the BK7. It has decent weight for its size and better reach than the BK2. It has large comfortable handles and has a very capable blade shape. The sheath could have a better fit but hey you are paying for the knife not the sheath.

This one wasn't made by Bob, but I've been after that design for a long time. Dozier's shop does a wicked deep hollow, and so far, on the flesh its cut, beef, pork, chicken and fish, just touching it to anything, has yielded some unbelievable results. I butterflied some pork chops the other night, and damn, what a knife.

I got the African Blackwood handle too, which is just short of HOLY SHIT!!!!

BK5 for me. I use the BK5 several times a week in my kitchen cutting up veggies and fruits, and it cuts them up great. I imagine the BK5 would also work good cutting up a fish. While I respect the strength of the BK2, I find that mine is too much of a generalist knife and cumbersome. When it comes to a fairly challenging chopping job, I'd prefer something bigger ie BK9, an axe, etc.
